Boutique Class A performance meets Epiphone affordability!

Part of Epiphone's Valve series of tube guitar amps, the Valve Junior Head is a straight-forward, single-ended Class A tube amp. This head version of the Epiphone Valve Junior tube guitar amp includes features not found in its combo cousin. It has DC filaments for both the preamp and power sections to reduce unwanted filament hum. It also has 4, 8, and 16 ohm speaker outputs so you can drive any kind of guitar speaker, from a single 8" box to a 4x12" cab. Simple to operate, it delivers fabulous tube tone from singing to searing with a simple twist of the volume knob. Like the combo version, the Epi Valve Junior Head delivers 5W power with one 12AX7 tube in the preamp and an EL84 in the power amp. Sports stylish vintage-style red and black vinyl covering with white piping and a cream front panel.

I went to the new Guitar Center in Cedar Rapids 2 weeks back and saw they had a valve junior head. I plugged it into a peavey 4x12, cranked the volume all the way up, cranked the volume knob on the Les Paul I had and hit an "A" chord. HOLY COW!! It was bloody loud for 5 watts, and upon playing with the volume knob on the head, full of tasty tones all the way around, from sparkling clean to full-on old Marshall style crunch. I couldn't resist it, and took one home. I actually GIGGED with it last Friday night. It was just loud enough to keep up with the drums & bass, and it loves stomp boxes too! I used a Boss Super Overdrive for lead boosts, and it worked like a million bucks. It sounds particularly nice with a Strat played through it. Just pick one up before they're all gone...I'm gonna get another one and run stereo with my 2 2x12 Texas Heat loaded cabs.

This amp is almost perfect!!! I came pretty close to unlocking that tone in my head a few days a go when I bought this amp, it sounds amazing with my Washburn hollow body and knock-off Les Paul. The high output chrunch is perfect for classic rock song. I hope you find this review helpful.

Let me just say, THIS THING ROCKS! Just got it today and I can't believe it. This is a must have. Of course it's not a Bassman or a Plexi or whatever, but it's THE BEST 100 bucks you'll ever spend on gear.
