Distinctive design and amazing sustain.

The Epiphone Thunderbird Pro-IV bass builds on the illustrious history of the Thunderbird bass. This distinctively shaped rock-and-roll bass combines traditional design elements with new technology at a price any bassist can afford.

Epiphone's Thunderbird Pro-V Bass features a 7-piece walnut/maple neck with through-body construction for amazing sustain and tone. It also hass Epiphone T-Pro bass humbucking pickups with custom active electronics and EQ to dial in the bass sound you seek.

It features Epiphone's SlimTaper design, which upholds a precise width-to-thickness ratio on the neck. This design provides added comfort and agility when racing through the frets, while not fatiguing your digits.

Gave this bass to myself as a Christmas present. Great look, great sounds, fast neck. A few issues-a wire wasn't connected inside the bass and needed repair (I still get some pops and buzz on occasion), the battery for the active electronics goes pretty fast and the tuning pegs are pretty cheap. NOTE: the only bass case that will fit this guitar is the Epi Thunderbird case. Overall, good value for the money. This is a great complement to my Stingray and Geddy Lee. Love the long scale.

  • Good but BEWARE

As reviewed by ryan on 4/30/2011

I bought this bass about a year ago, it sounds nice feels great on the neck but there is one issue I have that you SHOULD take into consideration before buying this bass. The way the body is shaped it makes the bass seem "Top Heavy" when you are standing- playing. Its almost like you have to carry this bass while you play it because the weight makes the top want to lean downwards. There fore you always have to have one hand holding the neck up even when you aren't strumming. To me this is very uncomfortable and I took it to Guitar center to ask for advice. They said unfortunately thats just how its made and a flaw of the Thunderbirds. SO LIKE I SAID good sound , nice feel on the neck and fret board , but issue playing while standing. I can honestly say i never play this bass because of that flaw. Also the low E string is kind of weak, something to do with the pick ups. Hope this helped! =]

  • Inspiring!

As reviewed by Chris G. on 2/26/2011

Ever since I saw the first glimpse of Shavo Odadjian holding this bass about 8 years ago I was always inspired to play bass. When I saw this bass in all its glory in the shop, I was so stoked. Plays great, and I recommend it for all players, beginner or professionals alike.
