  • Epiphone SG Special: Great Guitar!

As reviewed by JJ on 8/2/2011

Been playing over 40 years, but consider myself an intermediate since I don't play for a living. I've owned 10 electric guitars, high end Fenders and Rickenbackers--and I'll put the Epiphone SG up against anything! I love this guitar! It's simple, fast, feels good and has great sustain, with a LOT of rich mid-range. I play a lot of surf and soft rock, and some hard stuff too; this guitar is at home across the board and no more of a "student" or "beginner" type than Fender's Mustang. Don't think you have to have a Gibson Les Paul to be great. The player is 80% of what a guitar does. I saw Patrick Simmons of the Doobie Bros take a $35 Sear Silvertone single pickup electric by Danelectro and make that thing sound out of this world. Get yourself an Epiphone SG--and shoot for the stars! If you don't hit them, you'll still land very high anyway with this guitar!

I got this SG and it sounds great. It stays in tune, it looks great, and it will last for a VEY long time. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who plays a lot of Metallica, AC/DC, and Black Sabbath like me. This guitar is freakin' awesome and is worth every penny.
