NEW REVIEW - A great starters guitar

I recieved this guitar for christmas last year its my first electric, ive grown alot since then. Its a great guitar for the price but it does have some craftsmanship issues. I got mine from the SG package with the amplifier and the guitar in that model has a nice looking wood finish wheras the guitar by itself usually comes ina gloss red. I have had issues with the electronics and you can tell it was mass produced (mine has uneven spikes and you can tell the electrical components are a little uneven.) But with my Roland 30x amp (I replaced the Epiphone 15R it came with.) It sounds just as good as most other guitars

Solid, scrappy hard rock guitar of choice

I've had great luck with this solid, unpretentious beginner's guitar. This is just as, if not more reliable than the much more expensive "serious" guitars I've owned. Everything about it feels great. It's a light but sturdy guitar you won't feel guilty about putting through a little punishment. Unlike some other reviewers, mine has extraordinarily good tuners. it hardly ever goes flat or sharp, even after very heavy strumming. the input jack is chintzy, like all budget guitars, but replacing it runs you twenty to forty bucks at a reputable shop. As far as electronics go, the pick-ups are fair. the open coils are nice and bright, but put out plenty of noise. The instrument's weakness is its lack of tonal versatility. It only does one sound well: hard rock. that's (partially) the result of having only one tone knob. This is an excellent no-frills beginner's guitar, and a reliable mid-range one for an unbelievable value. F*@$ Squier!
