  • action?

As reviewed by Eric on 6/18/2011

i bought this guitar a few months ago when i started school cause i had nothing to keep me entertained and i wanted to start playing guitar again. the guitar it self is great but the action or the height at the first fret is kinda messed up because when i try to play it makes kind of a metal scratching sound that sounds absolutly horrible. i dont know if its just my guitar or not but the guitar i tried at guitar center played good, and a friend of mine bought the same guitar but in a diferent color and had the same problem. he got his fixed though i'd rather not at the moment because i only bought it so i can have to option to play my electric guitars or an acoustic so i am not a huge fan of acoustics but i enjoy playing. this epiphone i was kind of surprised on the quality because well, its a guitar that comes in a package which arent the best usually and it has a really nice natural wood grain finish and its just really nice, i would recomend it to anyone looking for a guitar and on a budget.

  • Wonderful!

As reviewed by Nathalie Blanc on 11/6/2011

I've always wanted to learn to play guitar and decided to finally get one and teach myself. This product had really good reviews so I ordered it and I have to say that once I picked it up, I fell in love. I ordered mine in ebony and it has a nice finish, all the strings were in tune (came with a digital tuner that hooks up to the pickup), and all parts and accessories were accounted for and of decent quality (no pickguard or capo). The guitar ia smaller than I expected but that's fine because I don't have a large frame and learning to play will be easier. I would say the only downfall is the dvd. As a beginner I was really depending on this to get the basics down. It has a lot of good info about the actual guitar (parts, tuning, care, etc) but in terms of playing, it only shows a few chords and then jumps into some "easy" songs. It moved way too fast for me but I can easily find better instructional videos online- so it's not a complete disapointment. Overall, I would say it's a really great package- comes with everything I need and most importantly, it SOUNDS great(even without the amp).

  • Good deal but has some flaws

As reviewed by Vikram on 5/14/2011

The deal seemed like a no brainer for a beginner like me and it still is but i felt the action on the 6th string is pretty low and whenever i press down the first fret there seems to be jarring of the string. and whats the deal with the DVD they sent...it does not have anything apart from a couple of links to take you to a site. IS that how it was meant to be?. Otherwise, everything else on the package is just great!. The guitar is light and sounds good. This is the first time I am using an amp and it sure makes you feel like a rockstar!
