This all solid wood guitar is wonderfully crafted. It has rich tone, and impressive resonance. As others have noted, you can get a softer tone fingerpicking and strumming lightly, and lift the tone brighter with more aggressive picking, etc. This gives it very nice variety in the sound. Action is too high from set-up, but this is a small issue. I also bought an epi es175 reissue recently, love it, and was not disappointed with the Masterbilt. I am still amazed at how nice this guitar is made given the price point. I would encourage anyone looking around the $500 price range for acoustics to play this guitar, and try the rosewood and maple versions, too. I bought this sight unseen and am thrilled. Bravo epiphone.

  • OUTSTANDING!

As reviewed by Old Hippie on 1/29/2008

All solid wood, old style Grover tuners, the diamond shaped inlays on the frets, etc. The satin finish allows the sound to resonate better than that of a "glossy" finish, producing rich, full lows and bright, crisp highs. Even though I'm not a pro...I'm HIGHLY familiar with what makes a good or bad guitar. (I've been around the block more than a few times.) If you want a different all solid wood guitar that sounds this good, spend $900, or more ($$$) on a Martin. The only thing I did was to change the strings. Everyone has thier own taste in that. They don't call it MASTERBILT for nothin'!

  • Love at first sight

I bought this guitar because of the way it looked and sounded and felt. It has become my main guitar I like better than my Martin or Taylor. You cant go wrong with this guitar!
