  • Wow!!!

As reviewed by Jed on 2/20/2010

When I first saw this Masterbuilt, I hadn't played one before. I picked it up and played it and was blown away! The all solid wood construction is really a steal for this price. I also like the offset headstock and fairly low action of the strings. I brought this beauty in the backroom with some of the more expensive Gibsons and Taylors, and it played very well compared to them. I recommend this guitar for anyone who wants a guitar with great tone and retro style.

  • A Nice Change

As reviewed by Adam on 7/21/2011

I've been playing various OM cutaway A/E models for 2 decades and decided to change it up a bit. I did a lot of research and finally settled on the Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500M Advanced Jumbo Acoustic. I got it with the Satin finish as it will allow the all solid spruce top and mahogany body to age nicely. It came set up and ready to play (of course I changed the strings after a couple of days) and the action is very nice. Its very warm but bold. The neck is smooth and fits my slightly smaller hands perfectly. You cannot beat the price for an all solid wood guitar. It competes with the $1000+ Martins and Taylors at half the price. You will not be disappointed with this guitar!

  • Masterbilt 4 sure!

As reviewed by Mike on 8/28/2008

Excellent sound and action for a budget priced all-wood acoustic guitar. The AJ-500M went head to head with the Taylor DN-3 and Martin MMV and came out a winner based on my comparison. Big sonic voice when strummed and plenty of mids and highs for picking. Vintage grovers keep everything in tune and black headstock adds to the overall retro appeal. Quality fit and finish with hide-glue construction. Would like to see all gloss but you can't have everything! Very nice guitar for the $$$.
