Great Intermediate Mando!
I owned this mando, then sold it to move up to a better one. This is a really good mandolin. Well made, with all the bells and whistles you'd expect on a more expensive instrument. Maple back and sides, spruce top, bound body and neck, great looking inlays and detail. Chrome hardware, decent tuners, and a nice playable neck. It's got a pretty good sound, and decent chop. I replaced the rosewood bridge with one of ebony, and that made quite a difference in the sound. Overall a great value!

Epiphone Re-Visited
Over the years, Epiphone continues to show that it knows how to keep costs low, while producing quality mid-line products for the advancing musician and hig-end products for the pros.
Over and over again, the folks who depend on their instruments in a professional vein, have picked up and played the Epiphone products, knowing that they were dependable and had a destinctive sound.
Such is the case for the intermediate player who chooses the MM-50 for its reminiscent lines and colors. It plays like it belongs and holds tuning better than most of its peers in the manufactured Mandolin world.
The action, when properly tuned is well within the tolerances for stress-free play; the harmonics on the twelveth fret are strong and clear with proper bridge placement, and the f-hole cutouts are consistantly smooth and clean.
For the price, the intermediate player will not be discouraged by the MM-50 as can happen so often when an inferior instrument is the first one they play.

I just went to guitarcenter and bought this mandolin. I played it twice and knew it was
the one. It plays easy, sounds great, and its
better than any other mandolin played there.
If your a beginner or pro this Epiphone MM-50 F-Style Mandolin is for you.

Great mandolin at an incredible price!
I recently purchased the Epiphone MM-50 F-Style Mandolin, and I am thrilled with it!
This instrument is incredible. It's beautiful to look at and it plays like a dream. It also sounds great when playing any style of music.
I considered puchasing an electric mandolin that was in the store (it isn't on the website), but because of its laminate top the sound was not as good when it wasn't plugged in. I will not need to play with an amp very often, so this one was the best choice for me.
I am new to the mandolin (I play the harp), but the staff at the Guitar Center was so informative and helpful. I am so excited about learning to play the mandolin, and I could not have picked a better instrument (at such a GREAT price) to start on.
