Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special SC Electric Guitar (105930044)
Availability:

A guitar with surprising reserves of depth and power, at an extremely appealing price.

The limited edition Epiphone Les Paul Special SC Electric Guitar reproduces the simple pleasures of a 55-year-old classic. At the same time the guitar updates the format with a second pickup—in the neck position, a la the Les Paul Special—and improved hardware in the form of a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece combination.

Introduced in 1954 as an entry-level version of the Les Paul, the Les Paul Junior graduated from kids bedrooms, to garage bands, to club and arena stages through the course of 3 decades as it became a favorite not only with beginners, but with professional guitarists, too. The bare-bones, slab-bodied, single-cutaway electric guitar earned the respect of rock and rollers in particular, and became a punk favorite in the late '70s and early '80s, but also turned up in the hands of a surprisingly diverse range of guitar stars.

As simple as the Les Paul Junior is in design and construction, its basic cornerstone ingredients add up to create a robust and toneful guitar. The marriage of hot, raw single-coil P-90 pickups, a resonant mahogany body, and sturdy glued-in neck make the Epiphone Les Paul Special SC a guitar with surprising reserves of depth and power at an extremely appealing price.

  • Great Rock Guitar.

As reviewed by Krackula on 9/8/2010

Fell in love with this TV Yellow LP Special the second I saw it; nice smooth finish, little wood grain poking thru, just different enough from the standard everybody-has-one Les Paul to stand out. And the color is just plain sick. It plays super-comfortably. Sits on your lap nice, doesn't kill your shoulder when you play it standing either. Action was good in the store, intonation was good, all the basic stuff was good to go, no visit to the local guitar repairman necessary. Neck feels comfortable to the hand, nice flat fingerboard too. The P-90's sound fantastic - I utterly despise Epiphone humbuckers - sold the G-400 I had because they were just so completely dull and lifeless - but these pickups really sing, especially when you crank up the gain. The neck pickup is especially musical; dime the gain settings, back your tone control to about 7 and let 'er rip :-) I like the simplicity of the setup - 2 pickups, responsive switch, comfy-on-the-picking-hand bridge (the bridge on my Strat all of a sudden feels real scratchy now), all in all a nice sandwich. Very satisfied with my purchase, thanks everyone.

  • Great tone!!!!

As reviewed by Andrew on 8/10/2010

I only played this guitar once and I was blown away by the diverse tone. The neck P-90 has a great deep warm tone which was great for jazz. And the bridge P-90 had a very clean tone. If you added some overdrive or distortion, its the perfect punk guitar. If I had the money, I would have bought it right then. I'd recommend this guitar for either jazz or punk mainly but can be used for other clean toned styles

  • Excellent Feel, Excellent Sound

As reviewed by Oliver Bolger on 6/6/2010

This guitar feels great to bend and play on, along with sounding great also. I've owned one for about a year now and have not found any problems other than it tends to go out of tune easy. It a great guitar and worth the money.
