Epiphone Limited Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO Electric Guitar (H93928)
Availability:

The return of a bold guitar for everything from hard rock to jazz fusion.

The classic Epiphone Genesis was one of Epiphone's most original and modern designs when it was first published in the Epiphone catalog in late 1979. It was intended as a new beginning for Epiphone--a truly original solid body design that could hold its ground with a Les Paul, giving players the added advantage of an eye-catching double cutaway. The proposed Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO would bring back this collector's favorite in all its original glory with added features like coil-tapping, Epiphone ProBucker™ pickups and Grover™ tuners along with a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top and solid mahogany body in four new beautiful color finishes, including Black Cherry, Midnight Ebony, Midnight Sapphire, and Vintage Sunburst.

Original Genesis Ads circa 1979
Early Genesis ads proclaimed "this isn't a guitar for shy people" and "we've created a monster," and you can see why. Along with its bold shape and beautiful finish, the Genesis featured coil-tapping for both pickups via a separate toggle switch. Coil-tapping was a new concept to guitar players and the original Genesis was a bold instrument with a warm sound that could do anything from hard rock to fusion jazz with its incredible sustain from the mahogany body. In many ways, the Genesis was part of Epiphone's longstanding tradition of giving players more for their money at a level of quality and consistency other guitar makers can't maintain. Today, Epiphone is still a leader in giving players a custom shop experience. The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO would take it a step further by adding Epiphone's bold ProBucker™ pickups with individual coil-tapping for the rhythm and lead pickups to potentially put the Genesis back to its rightful place among Epiphone's greatest instruments.

AAA Flame Maple Top and Futuristic Features
The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO would combine a solid mahogany body with a AAA flame maple veneer, delivering the classic tone and sustain that made the Genesis stand out in a crowd. The double cutaway body features 1-ply cream binding on the top for a beautiful vintage look. The mahogany neck has a 24.75" scale with a 12" radius and features a 1960s SlimTaper™ "D" profile--a player's favorite--along with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 1.68" nut along with single ply cream binding along the fingerboard.

Genesis Power: Epiphone ProBucker™ Humbuckers with Coil-Tapping
The original Genesis model featured coil-tapping via a small mini toggle. However, the original Genesis did not allow for coil-tapping each individual pickup. The new Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO zooms into the 21st century with ProBucker™ pickups with coil-tapping on both the rhythm and lead pickups. ProBucker™ pickups feature Alnico II magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers. Alnico II magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end. The Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO features a ProBucker-2™ in the neck position and a ProBucker-3™ in the bridge position. The ProBucker-3™ is slightly overwound to provide balance with the neck pickup with an added bit of edge for lead work. ProBuckers™ emulate the sound of original PAF pickups which were hand-wound with a few extra turns of wire.

Both of the Ltd. Ed. Genesis PRO's pickups feature coil-tapping, which is activated by a push/pull volume SpeedKnob control, allowing players an infinite variety of pickups sounds from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite. When winding humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation, free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone uses only the highest quality parts for its pickups, such as ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available.

A Classic Made to Last a Lifetime
The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO features Epiphone's legendary rock-solid gold hardware including a LockTone™ Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone's updated, patent pending design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed! This also results in improved sustain. The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO uses 1" diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service. Epiphone's all-metal toggle switches use rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. Epiphone's proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability and gold Grover™ 14:1 machine heads on a classic '60s era Epiphone Sloped Dovewing headstock to ensure tuning stability and long life.

  • Genesis Delux Pro Limited Edition - Great Buy

As reviewed by EDWARD MOORE on 5/17/2013

When I first saw the ad for the Genesis I knew I wanted one . I placed a special order for the Dark Cherry model and tried to order the hardshell case (notice " tried") but GC couldn't find it listed in their system. When it arrived it was a work of art-not a flaw in the finish the laminate body top was perfect - equal to or better than the 60's Les Paul Custom I had .The pickups sound great - warm and good sustain in the humbucker mode - single coil mode I'm still trying to get a tone I like. I have two vintage guitars with single coil pickups in them (Gibson and Fender) and both seem to have a fuller sound in them than the Genesis single coil mode. Tuners and bridge are great- action is good but needs some fine tuning to be great. Getting the custom case was a PAIN finally had to talk with Mitchell, a mamager, who solved my problem in short order. The case had to be custom ordered but was worth the wait- solidily built super thick padding with a yellow/gold color that will blind you! Overall I think this is a GREAT guitar solid build, a perfect finish, great sound only improvement I could even vision would be this model having the "Nano-Mag" pickup added as on my 339 Ultra - that would be a mind blowing combination,, Hunbuckers/single coil/Nano-Mag (I have to wonder if it could be added now). • What a BUY

As reviewed by EDWARD MOORE on 4/17/2013

FIRST - Im not a pro guitarist - I've been playing 50+ years - my public gigs were southern R&R and southern Blues early in my life --- the Genesis is a great guitar - first off mine was a special order arrived in the sealed box and was in perfect condition the finish was perfect as good or better than any Gibson I bought in the past - the tone with the Humbuckers is great - Grover tuners are fine - still checking out the "single coil" tone option and it may grow on me - the action is very good - I'm slowly lowering it so it is still a trial in progress but even when I feel it is kinda high it plays like a dream - IMO this is a BEST BUY and since a Limited Edition a BUY IT NOW purchase. This guitar is GREAT

  • Genesis: The second book of......

As reviewed by Lawrence Bone on 3/22/2013

Back in the day, I had an original Gennie and in a fit of complete abject stupidity... SOLD it in 1987. The fellow I sold it to did not succumb to such madness... he STILL HAS it. After pulling the trigger online and ship to store option, I then retrieved my new one in traditional sunburst from G.C. in Ft. Myers FL. The fellows on the sales floor were surprised... then amazed by it. They were familiar with the Genesis.... but unaware that it was being produced as a custom shop instrument. Took all I could do to get this "Badass Epiphone" (as the salesman said) out the door and home. Getting acquainted, I could not help but marvel at what appears to be an all out effort to make the new Gennie a modern classic. It is after all, an ORIGINAL Epiphone design. Finish, fit... all the details are amazingly well executed. The maple top is to die for... the accoutremants in gold a wonderful touch. The grover tuning machines are viscous yet silky smooth as was to be expected! Pots are like a glass of fine wine in your hands. All this... without even playing a note. Again.... an amazingly well executed instrument. It's quite obvious that the Epi custom shop craftsmen loved the design. They put their all into it's creation and the results are stunning. Sound... wow what a sound it has. The P'ups in this thing are incredible in range, clarity, etc. It can scream when it needs to as well. The coil taps give you a range of tones and choices that should pretty much cover all the bases. That's a major upgrade from the original... BOTH pickups can be tapped and thusly so completely independent of each other. BRILLIANT! A little dialing in of the intonation was required and easily completed. Fine tune it and we're off to the races. Action is amazing out of the box... I've not yet played with it. I may not.... we shall see. The neck is ripping fast and smooth and even though the guitar is roughly 2 lbs. lighter than the original this thing sustains incredibly. Yeah.... I'm seriously in love with this thing. Now... on to what I think is the only "CON".... and it's something I just don't get... To put the strap button on the heel of the neck... a VERY common practice... just makes no sense to me. I never liked it there... as it causes the top of the guitar to rotate away from the body when you're hanging it over your shoulder. That being said... no, I have not a clue where would be a better place... particularly in this very uniquely shaped body. What I initially thought was a string issue.... FILTHY FINGERS.... on the left hand.... actually is caused by residual fretboard dies and stains. It cleans up after a bit and settles in. Whilst not a common occurance, certainly not unheard of across the Epiphone brand. Another point to make here... I thought I would be able to just grab an economical LP style hardshell case for it. NO, no... and NO! Too uniquely shaped... and particularly the headstock is simply too long to fit an LP case. The price you pay for the unique "personality" of the guitar. So.... I gotta get the dedicated case for it. If you're going to get this guitar, that's aboslutely something to take note of. I've heard thus far that they are only making 500 of each colour intiailly... so, 2000 units total internationally... so if you want one, you either get one NOW... or HOPE that there's another production run. As far as I'm concerned, there are only 1999 available for sale as I absolutely am NOT letting mine go.
