A souped-up hollowbody with advanced electronics and deluxe hardware.

The Emperor Swingster Black Royale is a dazzling version of the go-to rockabilly, jazz and rock hollowbody classic. It features Epiphone SwingBucker™ pickups with classic Alnico-V magnets, Grover® machine heads, LockTone™ Tune-o-matic bridge, strap button, and best of all, a licensed B30 Bigsby® with original style "wire" handle as preferred by "Certified Guitar Player" and legend Chet Atkins. It comes in a beautiful black pearl finish with silver sparkle binding.

World famous for making some of the best and most innovative hollow-body guitars, Epiphone conjures up some of its past with the Emperor Swingster Royale. Starting with the same body and neck as used on their Emperor-II guitar and made famous by the jazz master himself, Joe Pass, Epiphone swings into action and turns it into a serious twangin', rock-a-billy slingin', country flingin' machine!

Classic Construction with SwingBucker Pickups!
With its hand-scalloped arched Spruce top combined with a laminated arched-back maple body and glued-in mahogany neck, the Swingster has what it takes to satisfy any professional's demand for great tone. At the heart of the guitar are Epiphone's NEW SwingBucker™ pickups and a series/parallel electronics switching package that outperforms others in its class. Specially designed for the Swingster, the humbuckers offer no-hum performance and feature classic Alnico-V magnets, enamel wire and over-wound coils for the perfect combination of warmth and bite.

Series/Parallel Switching
Two push/pull Tone controls allow you to change each pickup's output individually from parallel to series wiring creating a palette of useful sounds to tap into ranging from warm humbuckers to "quacky" single-coil type sounds and everything in-between. Of course, any swinging machine needs a vibrato and the Swingster is no exception featuring a Bigsby Licensed B30 with original style "wire" handle, a favorite of legends like Chet Atkins and Merle Travis.

Loads of Bling
Topping it all off are Epiphone's trademark, multi-bound headstock with the classic pearloid "vine" inlay, premium Grover® tuners and a multi-bound, 20 fret rosewood fingerboard with block inlay.

But wait... there's MORE!
Unlike some, Epiphone spares no expense by adding a "pinned" tune-o-matic bridge with roller saddles for smooth operation and accurate return to pitch that is preferred when using a vibrato.

  • An affordable Silver Falcon!

As reviewed by robert on 6/24/2014

After many test runs of other hollow-bodies and plenty of on-line research, I decided to purchase the Emperor Swingster Royale sight unseen. There also were not many YT reviews of the Swingster Royale so I was a little worried, but after seeing that the model had been out for awhile and there weren't many showing up "Used" was a good sign to me. I had played an Emperor II Joe Pass and really liked the feel and sound of it, and after testing out a ton of comparable hollow bodies I really didn't find the features and quality construction/hardware the Epi offered (binding, Grovers, Bigsby) in other lines at this great of a price. Long story short...I LOVE this guitar!!! It really nails the warm Hollow body Jazz/Rockabilly/Country/Blues sound that I was looking for and she FEELS amazing!!! The variety of tones is very wide with the parallel/series switching and dual volume and tone knobs. Cleans are beautiful she even handles a fair bit of gain! This guitar sound amazing unplugged too! The neck shape/fretwork/fretboard inlays/binding and body depth/weight/balance are perfect for what I was looking for! The black sparkle finish is AMAZING and I didn't find any flaws in the finish or binding! My only issues are the shallow break angle from the Bigsby over the TOM Bridge(easily fixed with 12-52 strings) and a slight tilt back with the TOM, easily fixed by flipping the bridge around. Other than that the set up out of the box was great! This is a GREAT instrument for the price (even for 3-4x the price!), I would definitely highly recommend this guitar to anyone wanting a quality hollow body, even to gear-snobs!!! This is my 12th guitar and my 1st full hollow body ( have a ES335 copy) and I couldn't be happier with my purchase and the help and customer service of my local GC!

  • Excellent Guitar

As reviewed by Ken Budzek on 11/18/2013

I went to GC to find a hollow body electric guitar. Sure, I had semi-hollow body guitars at home, but, I wanted the big full sound of a hollow body. I've had numerous Gretschs in the past, and they're great guitars, but, the Electromatic line needs a little work to meet what I wanted. I wanted, full hollow body, Bigsby, pinned roller bridge, versatile pickups that can sound like Filtertrons or full humbuckers, neck binding and inlays, f-hole binding, and decent tuners. I got more than I wanted. I play rockabilly, surf, and early '60s rock. This guitar can play all of them, even Scotty Moore Elvis stuff. Get out of the way Gretsch, Epiphone has done it again!

As reviewed by Jonathan Ramirez on 10/13/2013

I actually got this today, I tested it out played with if for about a good hour and didn't wanna let go of it, I love the warm tone it gives off the body is big but that's where all the sound is coming from and everything about this guitar is freaking sick im in love with it, id recommend it if your doing worship, or any other kind of rock music
