Outstanding instrument

I own several guitars, all Gibson and Fender and I use a Fender Deluxe Reverb and Fender Blues Jr. I bought this guitat taking a chance on the reports of Epiphone's improved quality. I have played this guitar for about two months almost daily in order to "break it in" and learn about it with different amp settings. The only change that I have made is changing strings. I play blues and prefer 11's. I had to tweak the action after changing strings. The tone is amazing. I can play anything that my Gibson Les Paul's will play, but with a bit more clarity and brightness. The fit and finish is excellent. The factory adjustment was fine, but I changed to heavier strings. I have yet to be unable to get a tone I want. Using the bridge pickup yields amazing clarity. I am a fan of P90's. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and can recreate those old Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry sounds as they did. I see why George Thorogood uses P90's. The fingerboard is smooth and plasy like silk. Slide sounds good on this instrument also. This is a fine guitar and rivals my more expensive Gibsons. I am very glad I purchased this instrument. It perfoms as billed. The instrument that I received was made in China and at first I was suspicious. After getting to know my instrument, I have no complaints. I am over this "made in USA" nonsense. I haven't bought an American car or motorcyle in 30 years. All are Asian. When I spend my money, I want products that work and thus far, the Asians make good products!!

A boingy Les Paul

I have been searching for this tone for a long time. This is an articulate guitar in the middle position with both pickups and a nice boingy tone with the bridge pickup. The neck pickup is sweet and still has a full sound without getting muddy. A humbucker can't do that on a 22 fret guitar. The pair of P90's on this guitar can do super clean twang to uncontrolled mayhem with some gain. This is a must play guitar in my collection. A Les Paul is usually associated with a 'fat' tone. It is so nice to have a guitar with the LP shape and balance that has a more aggressive tone. This is a must have if you need to fill the void that a humbucker equipped Les Paul leaves open. It is clean, articulate and nasty all in one statement. Just adjust the volume knob and you will see.

rockon

This guitar rocks, i have a gibson standard also and this guitar is the perfect companion. the p-90s sound great! The only thing is that the pick guard color does not match the pickup's, and i like the gibson tuning keys better as far as looks go, but this guitar is tops in my book!!

epiphone '56 Goldtop

This is a very good guitar for the money.I've had it for about a year. The p-90's sound great, but alot of noise if played through a high-gain amp, once you start playing though you dont notice it ,sounds much better than I expected for metal.Overall it's a great buy and I deffinately reccomend it for any style.
