  • Love That Joe Pass Emperor II

As reviewed by Highlander on 7/17/2007

Bought my Joe Pass model three years ago in Virginia Beach. Can't play it enough. Sounds as good as comparable models that cost three or four times as much (I've tried them all). Plays equally well on the soft and bright ends of the spectrum. Undeniably one of the best buys out there. Even more than most guitars, changing string types will really enhance various aspects of the sound...light and slinky for blues, or heavier gauge strings for jazz. You can't go wrong here.

  • A Beautiful Guitar with Excellent Tone

As reviewed by Chris on 7/2/2009

This guitar is awesome. I thought that because of the price it might lack in quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing you notice on this guitar is the BEAUTIFUL wood! The flamed back is absolutely amazing looking. Now for the sound. With a clean sound on my amp, I plugged this thing in, and it was absolutely amazing. The bass is very punchy, but not overwhelming, the mids are clear, and the highs are crisp and piercing. Overall, this guitar is an amazing value because it is relatively inexpensive, and people always ask me how much it was, $1000, $1500? nope, much less! Buy it, you won't be disappointed!!!!

I bought a Joe Pass guitar about 5 years ago. I love it, I did however put a tune-o-matic bridge on it recommended by Gibson. The bridge made a tremendous improvement. If you get one, install a tune-o-matic made by Stewart Macdonald.
