  • Almost perfect....

As reviewed by Jordan West on 6/11/2009

This guitar is incredible! I've had it for almost a year and it one sturdy guitar. I use the neck pickup no matter what im playing and it sounds great, and I'm sure the other one would sound good too if I used it. You can get great palm mutes and scary harmonics out of it too. The only problem is the flord rose. While you can practically pick it up by the tremolo bar and it will never go out of tune. The floyd rose can be very complicated to set up. If you have never use a floyd, I would suggest letting someone who has set it up and watch them the first time. Also it isnt recessed beneath the floyd rose, so if you want to do pull ups and dime squeals you will need to either raise your action, or have increase the spring tension. I would suggest the first option because Pinch harmonics are easier on a higher action, and if you simply increase spring tension, the bridge wont be parralel to the body of the guitar and you wont be able to dive bomb as easy either. The finish is MUCH darker than pictured on the website, but I like it better actually. Look at the Les Paul Prophecy EX to see what the finish actually looks like. The fret inlays look sweet and the fret board is very comfortable as well. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone who like The classic Explorer shape, but wants a tremolo and doesnt have $2000.00. If you have any specific questions on the guitar feel free to send me an e-mail.

  • awesome

only bad thing to say is when i got it there were some problems with the pickups fading in an out, wiring problem. but guitar center took care of me, and let me switch for a new one. i love the pickups and satin neck. really awesome tones, never had emg pickups before, and well they're everything i have read about. i own a ax 50, epi special 2, les pau land this. and i like this the most. i love to play metal, and this guitar is perfect for it. along with whatever else i want to play.

  • Yeap it kicks Ass, The Newest Axe in My Arsonal !

As reviewed by M Clark on 1/15/2011

I think the Epiphone Futura Prophesy Custom FX model totaly kicks butt compared to the Marcus Wellby version, so there was no need for me to choose Witch One to purchase. The "blade" inlay design and the larger Explorer body shape makes it my choice, Plus why would I want someone else's guitar, My Prophesy has a very deep black finish that is simular to "Ghost Flame" paint work done on High End Custom paint on some HD motercycles runnin' round here in Monterey Ca. you have to get up close to see whats really goin on. I was lucky enough to also add another Marshall to my rigg at the same time, I went ahead and got me a Marshall Haze !5 Amp Head & Cabinet, I have a lot a toys I use with my other setups, (Boss,Roland & a Digitech DL-8 Delay/Looper) and a gang of other shit I use to get my sound right. You can plug one cable from the Phophesy into the Marshall Haze and get most all the different sounds and tones you need right off the Bat. I Highly reccomend this combination for anybody that needs to have the best gear made at a fairly affordable price. The Prophesy will fit in a Wellby case.
