Equipped with active pups that can also be used passively.

The EM-2 Custom Electric Guitar from Epiphone's Prophecy Collection has 2 responsive, high output EpiActive humbucker pickups. Unlike most other active pickups on the market, EpiActives can also be used in passive mode to provide a traditional output without the need for a battery.

The hard maple, satin finish neck is attached to the body using the recessed, All-Access design. Combined with the patented Swept-C cutaway, access to all 24 frets on its rosewood fingerboard is uninhibited for sweet playability high up the fretboard.

Lavish features on this guitar include a Floyd Rose Original double-locking tremolo, highly figured quilt maple top, pearl knobs, strap locks, Grover tuners, a bound fingerboard, unique blade fingerboard inlays, and a deep, rich midnight ebony finish.

So I picked up this guitar and it looked so awesome, it felt so great in my hands, and it had active pickups right? They just didnt cut it. This would probably be a great guitar if it was made w/ the Alinco humbuckers. The new EpiActive pickups were muddy and almost had just too much boost in sound. Dont get mr wrong the sustaain was there but the sound wasnt. I sent my prophecy back, I figure there are many other quality guitars for the same price.

  • Epiphone EM-2 Prophecy FX is awesome

As reviewed by Bill on 12/15/2008

This Axe (Epiphone EM-2 Prohecy FX) is simply amazing. The pickups with the active and passive opertation is sweet. Also all you have to do to swtitch between the two is pull or push the volume knob. Very affordable and a qualty guitar. Especially with the Original Floyd Rose. Just look at the others with the FL system.

  • Uhhh...

Well, I bought this guitar, and it wasn't what i expected at all. I got the guitar in the mail, and open it. I was so disappointed, because the body wasn't as big as I thought, but it got even worse from there. The EpiActive pick-ups had way too much boost, and even putting my hand of the string made a sound. There are plenty of other great guitars for less than this one.
