NEW REVIEW - Great starter guitar!!

After looking at G.C. on-line for my first electric guitar, I went to my local G.C. store with my gitar teacher. I spoted this beautiful cherry red epiphone dot. It was used, and my teacher said " I had one just like once, I think you will be happy with it" He was right!! I am an ametuer player, ( 2 yrs. exp.) but compared to my electric acoustic, it is so much easier to play, and my chords cleaned right up, and this guitar has inspired me!! I have had it for about a year, and play it almost every day. The only thing that ever went wrong with it, is the output jack's nut loosened up, so I tightened it, that's it!! my guitar teacher and I think she sounds nice, and looks sweet. For the money, it's hard to beat. I have tried other guitars costing twice as much, and in my opinion, I'll keep my dot!!

Just another Gibson ?

Thats right I said GIBSON I had a nice '335 back when I was a kid and sold it for a more rockin' guitar, sure would like to have that 335 back. But I gotta tell ya,I have a LP std. and a 1953 L4C(a ES-175 body with no PU's)And this little Dot plays just exactly like them.Never thought I would sing the praises of a Korean guitar, but I bought this Dot used at GC here in Fort Wayne. Tried a few other guitars, and was suprised to hear this beauty with rusty gross strings, sound more resonant with better harmonic accents than anything (although the alleycat with p-90's was close)I played in the price range. The pickups are the ones they put on the Epi LP-neck (can't play the Epi LP's necks feel like a bat) She's just broke in and in awesome condition but not new. Not a lick(pun) of trouble with it, don't think I've even adjusted the action(did intonate her though) If anything I might slap my old LP PAF on it just to see if it's any different. If you get a chance, play one of these, and don't let some punk tell you it doesn't look rockin enough. From Cream to Ten Years After to Frank Zappa this is a classic tone machine. The sustain block does make it heavier than a ES335 but with f-holes it can sustain forever, If you can't rock this Guitar, buy yourself a ridiculous hockey-stick black thing that you can't give away in 5 years when you grow out of it.Been at this guitar thing for 30 years now, so either I'm an old fart who likes old country lookin' guitars, or I speak the truth. But if want to play a great guitar buy one of these, if you want to play hockey buy a hockey stick.

Incredible Starter's Guitar

This guitar has made my year, and perhaps more years to come. What first attracted me to this beauty was in fact just that, it's beauty! Everywhere I go with my guitar people always say how gorgeous it looks. The finish was also spot on (I got the vintage sunburst), I polish it every week or so and whenever I walk up to it, it shines like the sun. Thats the first part. Next was the action and playability of this guitar. I have to say that out of the many guitars I tried out at numerous guitar stores, this one just felt right the moment I picked it up. It's bulky and quite solid, like a Les Paul, and yet it was a lot easier to play then a Les Paul in my opinion. If your somewhat of a big guy than you'll love this guitar. It fits perfectly on my knee and its very comfortable when standing up. I gave it a 4 for features because after a mere few weeks, the output jack was getting loose. Its been like that for months now (since christmas when I bought it) and finaly got to a point where it didn' work. Its at the repair shop this very moment. Other than that nothing this guitar is a low-priced dream. The pickups are good and very versatile to your style of playing. I play mine through a Roland Cube 30 and it sounds very clean when on the Jazz Clean setting. Also, the intonation is very good for a korean made guitar. One tip though, a good thing to do with guitars shipped from overseas is clean the frets. A friend of mine said that the salt air tends to rust the frets a bit. If you cover in between the frets with masking tape then rub the frets with steel wool. After a good rub to each metal fret, you'll end up with a nice shiny neck and a beautiful brighter sound after restringing. So thats it. Enjoy this guitar while you have it. It will always be one of my favourites and the instrument that got me into guitar to begin with.

Bang for the Buck

This is an amazing insturment for the price. I have played it on stage several times and everytime people swear it's a Gibson. The tone is bright but handles distortion like a champ. It has cured my haunting desire for a Gibson es-335. I believe it's still the best, but the Epiphone dot 335 is a very close second.

Great Guitar For Blues

This guitar is great for anybody who needs a cheap guitar and wants to play the blues. It has bright bluesy tone, and looks killer. Definietly a must for someone who wants a Gibson Es 335, but doesn't have the cash.
