Solid sitka spruce top and luxurious appointments in an acoustic-electric cutaway, offered at a steal.

From Epiphone comes the beautiful entry-level acoustic-electric guitar, priced for anyone to afford. Dressed in a beautiful finish, and featuring appointments you'd often find on higher-end instruments, the Epiphone AJ-220SCE guitar sounds just as good as it looks. Built on advanced jumbo body design, the depth of the body and the width of the shoulders create a large sound chamber, presenting tone that's full, deep, and loud. The cutaway guitar body design provides comfort when accessing the upper-register frets on the rosewood fretboard.

The Epiphone AJ-220SCE guitar's mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top brings out rich harmonics, lots of projection, and clarity in tone. A glued neck joint keeps the guitar's neck and body stable, without losing any subtleties in tone. The mahogany neck adds strength, as the wood is quite durable and will stand up to the elements. The acoustic-electric guitar's rosewood bridge and fretboard produces lasting sustain, in a deep appearance.

The SlimTaper D-shape neck and 12" radius add speed and comfort to your playing, while lessening player exhaustion. The Epiphone guitar's ebony fretboard, rosewood bridge, and bone nut produce some of the clearest tone possible, so you can hear your notes with crystal clarity.

At the heart of this Epiphone acoustic-electric guitar is the integrated electronics, letting you plug in and amplify quickly and painlessly. The Nanoflex pickup is capable of conveying all the harmonic and organic dimensions of the acoustic sound spectrum. Nanoflex pickups produce an open sound, conveying natural harmonic overtones. Shadow developed a unique technology that amplifies and shields directly at the pickup. This innovative technology keeps loss of sound at an absolute minimum and guarantees a signal that is completely free of noise. The Epiphone AJ-220SCE guitar's preamp includes master volume, high EQ, low EQ, phase reversal, chromatic tuner, and dynamics controls to dial in your ideal amplified guitar voice.

Dressed in a polyurethane finish and featuring such desirable appointments as sealed die-cast tuners and nickel hardware, you will love the look of this Epiphone guitar as much as its sound. Built under the expertise of Epiphone's master craftsmen, the AJ-220SCE acoustic-electric guitar will sound excellent for a very long time. And at this price, you can't go wrong.

  • Escellent sound; Great price

As reviewed by Dave on 10/1/2010

I spent 4 hours over a couple of days playing over 18 guitars, each time I kept coming back to this Epipi. The workmanship is outstanding. I played the $2000 Gibson & Martin and the Epipi sounded just as good for a whole lot less. This guitar produces great tones by itself or amped. I run it through my Fender Twin the the low end is great. Before I left he store with it I had them bring the neck down just a bit and put a new set of strings on (Martin Silk & Steel). The hard-shell case I bought was a standard case and is just as good as the Epiphone offers . This guitar will make a great addition to anybody's Arsenal. Beginner, Intermediate or Expert; this is a great guitar!

  • Better than a Gibson!

As reviewed by Kevin Suwarsky on 1/26/2011

This guitar has it all. the looks, the beautiful crystal clear sounds, it has a nice rich equal treble and bass tone. the built in tuner works amazing. and the guitar really takes a while to go out of tune, ive left mine in the case before for a few days and it was in tune. i would tighten the screws on the tuning pegs it really helps your guitar stay in tune. I got this guitar for christmas. it is worth the money the neck, is nice and slick and you can play music and challenging chords easier, this guitar in my opinion is better than most gibsons that you will pick up in at GC. and if you get this guitar get the D'Addario EXP17's acoustic string the bronze phosphorus strings. they sound beautiful rich and amazing and last you a long time! this guitar has it all don't think twice about it. This is the GUITAR!!!!!

this is defiantly a GREAT guitar the tone and sound is beautiful! but make sure you buy it IN STORE and check the quality because mine had a warped neck. lucky for me it was a factory mistake so i was able to trade it out for a new better one. but CHECK THE NECK before you buy.
