  • Good sound, dubious quality

As reviewed by Pop-pop on 9/14/2010

I brought my daughter with me to listen while I picked up a few guitars to play. I had the Epiphone in mind as it was priced for what I wanted, a kick around guitar. I have a few Epiphone's and this one is the least expensive and the best sounding. For kicks I picked up a $1,200 Ibanez of the wall and tried to see if the sound or the action was worth an additional $1,000 dollars - it wasn't. Even my daughter said that the sound was about the same. The "E" logo on the pick guard is cheap and started to pull off right out of the box. My daughter suggested that I bring the guitar back but, for that little imperfection I thought it wasn't really worth the ride back to the store. At any rate, for $200 this is one of the best guitars I have played. I own several acoustics and a gibson SG from back when I was a kid - 1964 and although I'm just a picker, I can play OK and would recommend this guitar to anybody.

  • This Guitar Rocks!

    As reviewed by on 4/19/2007

This Guitar Rocks! Kudos to whoever down at Epiphone designed the AJ-200S. The thin neck is great for people with small fingers that can't stretch all that far. The thin neck also makes playing that much easier for beginners. The full body gives it great sound. I would reccomend this guitar to ANYONE, even if they are just starting out, or have been playing for years. All in all, a great job by Epiphone for bringing an affordable, quality guitar to the people. A+.
