The design that blasted guitar into the space age.

The Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar is based on the '58 Gibson design that ushered in the space age! The 1958 Explorer features a 24-3/4"-scale maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Two Alnico Classic humbuckers give it its rock 'n' roll voice, with one tone and two volume knobs and a three-way switch for shifting from rhythm to high-altitude leads. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone stopbar tailpiece add more sustain and make string changing easier. Limited lifetime warranty.

  • Thank god for Epi!

As reviewed by John on 12/3/2008

This is by far one of the best guitars i've ever owned, and played through. The dual alnico humbuckers really compliment the design of the body with their great versatility and awesome sound. Both Metal lovers and soft rock/ blues players can enjoy this product, all at an affordable price!! Definitely worth every penny!

  • Incredible guitar

As reviewed by metalrock01 on 7/2/2007

This is by far the best guitar ever made from the fact that it is just as good as the gibson but it cost's less. It's a good guitar for any level of player but I do think you should know how to play Smoething to be able to truly appreciate the awsomness of this guitar.

  • Sweet!!

As reviewed by Rob on 10/12/2006

Ive had this guitar for a year, an I?m constantly falling in love and re-falling in love with the sound of it. Its got a great warm jazzy clean tone to it on the neck pick up..Switch it to the bridge and it?s a little brighter. I will never get rid of this guitar..EVER!!! However, the tone is so deep, that when you play clean or distorted on the low stings the deep sounds kind of get muddled..dont get me wrong, the deep sound is GREAT, but gets in the way sometime. This is why I am currently in the process of getting a Fender Tele, because it can do things the Explorer cannot, just as the Explorer does things the Tele cannot...Just getting a little more versitlity in my guitar arsenal. THIS IS THE GUITAR FOR HEAVY ROCKIN'. Nice for jazz too, with the really deep warm tone. I play it through a Randall rg100sc...Loud 1200 watter!!!
