This is an amazing speaker. I can easily get blues, country, classic rock and metal through it. It is full and has amazing tone. Def recommend. Blows 10s and 12s away.

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

Big, balanced ,with just enough chime and full but not muddy bottom. I have played Weber f150 15inch which is similar but Big Ben has fuller bottom and thicker sound..I like the Big Ben better. I have been through Weber cali, Canibis Rex, Weber silver bells, Eminence swamp thing...all great in their way. Right now I am in love with BB.It is in a closed back cab and played with a Marshall type hybrid amp made by GRAmplifiers (GREAT GREAT amp). 15s are surprisingly open and big sounding compared to 12s.

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

I have two of these speakers in an old 2x15 Traynor Cab that I acquired recently. These speakers paired together sound warm, heavy, and VERY loud. I use the cab for both guitar (I run a Fender Twin Reverb 2x12 with it) and bass (I run an Acoustic B600H with it). Eminence may get a bad rad at times, but the tone these speakers give are very powerful and very punchy. There's plenty of bottom end, and yet it's very crisp as well. These speakers are personally one of the best I've heard. It's nice that they're not extremely expensive either (for those of us that don't have thousands of washingtons to drop on custom equipment). If you're looking to upgrade your 15" speakers for more power, heaviness, and clarity, go for the Big Ben.

        Perfect with a Deluxe Reverb!

        About Me Experienced

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

I put the Big Ben in my '78 Deluxe Reverb which lives in a custom 1x15 cabinet and tried a few speakers (Eminence Legend 1518, Jensen C15N, Weber DT-15) I found the Big Ben to sound the best of them all. The only thing is that it is so efficient the Deluxe Reverb is incredibly loud. I play blues and rock. The bass is big. I don't know how to describe it, but I knew this was the speaker when I played it. I tried the Big Ben in a Vibroclone and didn't like it.

In the Deluxe Reverb, the Legend just sounded "meh" and the C15N sounded great but had piercing highs at certain times that really were painful, and yes the bright cap has been clipped. The Weber DT-15, however, is a perfect inefficient speaker with smooth highs and matched very well with the Deluxe Reverb. I keep the DT-15 around for when I want the Deluxe to be a little less loud.

The Big Ben really is an incredible speaker. I have tried other Eminence speakers (Cooperhead, Ragin Cajun, Legend) and the Big Ben is the only one that I have wanted to keep.

        Wow. BIG sound

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

this is a great speaker. not many people pay attention to what a 15" speaker can do. the sound is big. sure it has bass, but it's a well balanced speaker. the highs are defined but not piercing, smooth is a better description. back in the day there were more amps with 15" speakers, i don't understand why they're not more popular. the only way to really describe the sound is big. you get a huge range of thick tonal response. i run it in an external cab and every head or combo i run through it sounds great. it'll make a strat sound thicker and smoother.

        Surprisingly full and balanced!

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

This speaker came stock in my Peavey Delta Blues and I have been more than pleased with it. I was very skeptical about it prior to playing the amp thinking it would lack presence, sound muffled, and just be too boomy. This was not the case. It has plenty of smooth brightness and the mids are on the lower side but still substantial. Probably the best speaker I've ever used with fuzz.

        Great for Blues and Rockabilly

        By Bryan Amps

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

I purchased a Big Ben for a re-cabbed Blues Junior. It makes that amp sound big. Overdrive sounds sing. Clear tones sound great. What this speaker doesn't give you is annoying treble. Don't buy if you are treble deaf. Do buy if you like a full BIG tone.

        Big Ben = Big Sound

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

I am using 2 of these in open back cabs. I have used them for about a year, to my ears they have a very big open round sound. very heavy bottom which I love and thick mids and the top is just enough. I am feeding them with there rated rms 225watts and they seem to take it the power well. I am so happy with them that I want to get 2 more and have 4 1x15 cabs. just a great tone from this speaker. Just great speaker and I dont understand why more people dont use 15" guitar speakers instaed or 10's or 12's.Buy a pair you will love them.

I got two big Ben's for my sound tech front show speaker box's and i love them. they have the nicest bass i have ever heard and they make a great combination with my All tech Lansing horns. i have a 300 watt (RMS) Gold star amp with a CD player hooked up to it and the bass rattles every thing in my pool house. if you like bass and clean bass and sound they are the speaker for you

        Big Ben, Big sound

        By bluejam12bar

Comments about Eminence Red Coat 15" Big Ben 225W Guitar Speaker:

Eminence 15" 8 ohm guitar speaker, I replaced my peavey speaker with the Big Ben. We all seem to think about guitars, pickups, strings, amps and effects. The SOUND comes from the speakers and it is such a important part and sometimes over looked part of the big picture. This is a outstanding and great sounding speaker.
