Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

The speakers in my old Music Man amps were getting tired. I didn't realize how tired until I turned the amp back on and plugged in. If there is such a thing as a 100% improvement this is it. The sound is phenomenal. Crisp, clean, heavy, thick and anywhere in between depending on the setting. The difference is hard to believe. The only question now is reliability and that will be answered at our next gig in about two weeks.

    Sonic Gravy

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

Couldn't be happier! A couple of weeks back I dropped it in my little old Ampeg SJ12T 1x12 combo. It was a real snug fit and it really crowds the tubes but it doesn't seem to cause any noise problems. Sounded great straight out of the box and gets better with each week. The tone is thick and heavy. Chunky too like a forkful of Waffle House hashbrowns slathered in gravy at 3 am in a sloppy drunken haze. Sonic gravy. My amp is only 50 watts so I've got a ton of headroom, reverb and modulations are lush, fuzz gets really sweet especially a loose germanium style fuzz. If you wanna taste the stank in your spank drop a swamp thang in your amp thang.

    Great speaker, reasonably priced

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

Bought this for use in a 1x12 Fender clone combo, open back (Allen Brown Sugar). Great match, American style voicing, big bottom, smooth mids and highs. Very heavy, but clean and loud. Great when paired with a Tube Screamer for mid-push. Sounded great out of the box and getting even better with a little break-in. Big sound!

    Great Speaker !!!!

    By Warren Stephens

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

The reviews dont really tell you all the story with this speaker. To sum it up in a word,"MORE". More of everything. More lows, more mids, and more highs too. The highs are cool and smoothe not harsh or brittle. Dont think its a dark speaker, If you push the treble knob it will get as bright as you want without all the harshness. Eminence has filtered out the brittle stuff in the highs without sounding "sterile". Tele players who play alot of Bridge P/U (like me) take note here. The mids are crazy good. If it had anymore mid it would be too much. The voicing is dead on! You will not have to push the mids on this thang but if you do they are so strong and clean that you may play with more mids than you ever have before. Low end, this is where it really gets interesting. This thing doesnt really seem to have MORE bass or be DARKER than other speakers out there. Its able to produce a REALLY full bottom, but at higher volumes other speakers fall off a bit and/or break up on heavy bass. The Swamp Thang has the ability to stay clean longer and handle loads of big bar chords on the Neck P/U and stay clean at high volume. Volume is at least double also. I have a 2x12 amp and a 1x12 amp with swamp thangs installed and I had to turn down 2 full numbers on both amps. Loves LOUD!. The harder you push these the better they sound. If you are looking for that frizzy break-up stuff, look elsewhere. If you want a Super Clean, stong, loud speaker that can handle anything you throw at it, this is the one. The Key word here is CLEAN. One of the three Swanp Thangs I own came from a Blues Guitarist who didnt like the sound. Be carefull if you play distortion because this speaker is designed to be SUPER CLEAN. BREAK IN!..These speakers are very tight and stiff out of the box. Dont judge them untill you put at least 25 hours on them. After three days of playing the radio real loud thru them while I was at work (I live in the country)did the trick. Now they sound KILLER. You cant beat the price at way less than half of what it would take in a "hand made" speaker to compete with these. Also you WILL NOT hurt these speakers, they are made like TANKS. I saw a "HAND MADE" speaker ruined because the installer over tightened the screws just a little and another (mine) that the amp was dropped about a foot. You will not have that problem with Emenince. Tanks! The only con with these speakers other than the extended break in period is they are very, very heavy. Even the blues and rock guys that didnt like the sound of these speakers say they are loudest and cleanest speaker they ever heard. If you play Clean Tele this is you speaker. Also I play fiddle too and it sounds great thru them. Buy it! Great Speaker!!!

Just what my Blues Junior needed

    By Eddie Bowers

    from Dallas TX

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

The stock speaker in the VOS Blues Junior (Jenson) isn't bad, but replacing it with the Swamp Thang made the amp sing. Overdrive is much smoother and the low end is now nice and full.

    Added to a Twin Reverb

    By Patrick

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

Put a Swamp Thang on the left side and Texas Heat on the right side. Amazing sound from low to high and everything in between. The original speakers I could crank up to 4 or 5 in the garage, with these maybe 3. Quality construction, great warranty and most importantly, great sound As usual The Guitar Center provided excellent service and surprisingly fast shipping. Great product

    eminence.. nuff said..

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

i just put a pair of these in a vintage 2x12 cab. as soon as i put them in, the weight of my cab almost tripled (VERY heavy speakers, b/c of the huge magnets). the sound is absolutely amazing. i typically run a Laney AOR 30 head, a 30 watt version of a JCM 800. the bass response is insane, but the tone is still very balanced. it helps to smooth out the highs a bit from my DS-1, and with a MT-2 its almost orgasmic. the clean sound is very clean, defined (but still warm), and punchy, VERY good jazz tone, and extremely loud. i can turn my volume up to half and easily compete with a drummer, they make a 30 watt sound HUGE, and they can still handle up to a 300 watt head. with my friend's 50 watt ENGL Screamer 50 head, i can put out more volume than most 4x12's with the same head. for live rock shows i typically run a gibson V90 into a modded DS-1 into my Laney into my 2x12 cab, and have never had a problem with volume, and with my MT-2 i can easily nail ABR or Killswitch type tones. overall they have extremely good tone and definition, which is part of why they also handle gain AMAZINGLY well, without ever sounding brittle or harsh. overall, IMHO, one of the best speakers i have ever had the pleasure of trying. if you like speaker cone break-up, look elsewhere, as these produce a very warm, defined sound. heavy low end may not be for everyone, but if you want to fill sonic space and sound massive look no further.

Will turn your amp into a tone monster

    By Serolf

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I bought this speaker and installed it into a Peavey Valve King 212 and let me tell you...it turned the Peavey into an entirely new amp. The Peavey now sounds full and rich with ultra chunky, wet distortion. Even coupled with the remaining Peavey speaker (which is noticeably bland, especially after the upgrade) it still sounds incredible. If you are a Peavey VK owner, I highly, highly recommend picking up this speaker. It was a breeze to install and is well worth the money.

    Great Expectations

    By Jaydee

    from New York, NY

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I previously had a Celestion G12 Century Vintage with the neo magnet in a Billm modded Fender Blues Junior.. It was an upgrade from the stock speaker, but the Celestion just wasn't the sound I was looking for, so the search continued. After hearing great reviews of the Eminence Texas Heats from the Fender Forum members, I checked out a couple of Eminence speakers. Their website was very helpful in helping choose the sound you're looking for. Not only did they have sound clips of their speakers, they also have a very descriptive chart of what their speakers' differences are and what they feature. I was looking for more low end response that is also fat and round while keeping the highs from being spiky without it being muddy.. and to my surprise.. that was exactly what Eminence's tone guide chart described for the Swamp Thang. After comparing the sound clips, I was sold. I have a PRS Korina McCarty plugged into my Fender. I must say that I am very satisfied with the tone of this setup. It's now more full, warm, and lively.
