Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

I purchased a used Marshall DSL 401 with the original Celestion speaker a couple of months back. The amp needed a re-tube and bias which improved the sound quality however the low end response was weak. In general the DSL 401 is a bit thin to begin with. I did some research and discovered that the Eminence Man-O-War was a very good upgrade and it was affordable. The speaker is rated for 120 Watts. I have very impressed with the improvement in all ranges. The bottom end is fat and round the top end is much smoother and no longer has that fizziness on the OD channels.

      Very pleased.

Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

Good speaker. The description on the site calling the low end response of this speaker "chunky" really says it all. Great speaker for palm muting, chugging rock licks. It sounds a little dead in the crystal clear high end response, but there is nothing wrong with the high end. really a speaker meant for pushing distortion, and low end thudding. Well built. Nice fit an finish. I recommend it for anyone who likes classic blues, rock, or metal. Does have a really cool crunch to it for blues

      High gain sluggage, squealing beasts!

Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

Great speaker design. All Eminence Red Coats have a great fit n finish to start with. They all have rubber cases around the magnets so you won't crack or scratch them as easily, their painted red, and just look nice RIGHT out of the box... unlike celestion where sometimes their speakers look used right off the assembly line. These specific speakers are great for low riffin, chuggin, scrapin, scratching low end sounds. The low end response on their site states the response is "chunky" The word chunky has to be the best description for these speakers. They take 120 watts so they can handle all the power you need generally, they don't break up with gain, nor lean, never sound thin. These things just jam for metal and blues. Not the most versatile speaker out there however. The price is awesome for these. 90 bucks is great, their high quality and do what they say. I recommend them.

      Enjoying this driver!

Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

I bought this speaker originally to fill into a 2x12, ended up getting a pre loaded big 4x12, so later on I bought a cheap 1x12 and poped this little sucker into it. I have also used it in a combo amp I no longer have. The fit and finish on Eminence speakers are GREAT. The magnet comes with a rubber casing around it, the basket is well painted with almost a pouder coat, and it just looks awesome. Lemme tell you this speaker sounds GREAT! It is very clear sounding, and on clean tones it has a really interesting "chinkachink" sound to it when you do funky stuff. The high end is not super high fidelity, but it does sound very smooth. No harshness on the high end. This speakers description is"chunky" botton end response and THAT is the best way to describe the sound. The break up is relatively late, and it roars with distortion. Palm muting sounds awesome through it. This speaker is aimed towards heavy music but I really feel like it sounds awesome for funk in its own way. It has a huge power handling so it is perfect for a 1x12. it has some very intense mid range too. I really really like this speaker, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a wide variety of music, but mostly enjoys distorted low tones.

      Huge Improvement!

Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

Installed three Man O' Wars and one Tonker in a spare 4x12 cab I had lying around. These speakers are insanely heavy. Be prepared to invest in some casters. They are really efficient and possess an improved 'sweet spot' over the speakers they replaced. The cab used to have a narrow 'throw' pattern in that it could be heard best if you were directly in front of it. With the Eminence speakers I get a much wider dispersion which has allowed me to turn the amp down a bit while still cutting through the mix. Very versatile. I play acoustic, metal and alternative but throw in some blues for good measure. These speakers handle every type of tone I throw at them well but perform well especially with the metal. I am extremely happy with the tone I get from them and have never had any problems with them distorting because I pushed them past their limits.

Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker

      By maschoff

Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

Used these to replace 75W stock OEM Eminence speakers in two 2x12 Tube Works cabinets. Soldered them in better than the originals; nuke-sub trained electrician. Each cab is stereo with each speaker stereo from my Mosvalve 962. Put them on the slanted top portion of the cab with Texas Heats on the bottom. These speakers sound very good (right out of the box); better than any Celestion I've ever heard. Clear highs and round lows. Very open sound after the stock units which were "coney" sounding, but clear. These sound like I'm playing off the CD! These can reproduce any sound required. No distortion at very high levels, just clarity, even with distorted tones. These things are like the Sirens, they will lull you into hearing loss. Trust me, get some!

      Awesome upgrade

Comments about Eminence Man O War 12" Guitar Speaker:

I replaced the stock speaker in my Peavey valve king 112 with this speaker. WOW!!! What a difference! I was going to sell this amp and am I glad I didn't. Now the smallest eq adjustments make a huge difference. Lots of bottom end out of an open back combo. Much, much improved clarity & 'sparkle'. Highly recommended for valve king owners (you will LOVE your amp). Nice job Eminence.
