I put one of these in a Crate V5, and it wasn't really an optional thing. The amp just flat-out sucked with the stock speaker, and a tube change didn't help at all. Enter the Eminence Legend, and finally I'm working with something! This speaker gave that little tube amp a nice tone that I just didn't expect at all from such an inexpensive class-a, with a woody low-end, and smoky mids. The most pleasant improvement was an amazing reduction in the ice-pick factor. The tonal transformation is readily apparent in the clean range, but when I crank it up to get that natural, cool, small-amp overdrive, the difference is absolutely dramatic. The crunch has a definite "bark", but isn't harsh at all, single notes sing nicely, and the distortion has a very musical quality to it. I give this speaker five stars, because it may not be the best 10" driver you'll ever play, but it can make a phenomenal difference in a ratty-sounding amp.

I built a Weber 'BandMaster' kit. I used Weber sig 10's in the combo and I also made an 'Iso-Cab' with 2 speakers inside; One is a 10" Weber Sig 10, the other this 10" Legend 1058 10N.

Comparing the two:

Weber: Much more solid build, louder, more mid-range, a 'later breakup' so you can get a nice cleaner tone at higher volume level. Personally, I like the Weber tone better. Ted Weber built a nice speaker. It can still 'break up' at volumes about 6 and up.

The Legend has the earier 'Breakup', so I think for a distortion sound,it would be good as for Metal, Hard Rock, etc. It didn't have as nice of tone that I was hoping for, more treble. Not as 'clean' and less well built than others in it's class.

I prefer the Weber at the same price. However, If you used the Legends, few really would be able to tell much difference except you. And what might sound good to others, may sound great to you.

Comments about Eminence Legend 1058 10 In Guitar Speaker:

The Eminence Legend 1058 10" Speaker is an improvement over the stock speaker in my amp combo. Without naming brand names, sometimes speaker magnets or cones can be constructed over less expensive materials that can compromise the sound quality of your tone.

The Legend 1058 offers a more balanced frequency response with smoother treble, mids, and bass. Translation? Less harshness while still being able to cut through a mix easily.

If an improvement in your tone is what you desire, the Legend 1058 10" is a reasonably priced, excellent quality speaker replacement for your tone needs.

Comments about Eminence Legend 1058 10 In Guitar Speaker:

I decided to replace the co-axial speaker in an old enclosed keyboard cab and mate it to a Micro Terror for a portable jam rig. Reviews and pricing led me to the Legend 1058. After hitting the first chord, even before break-in, I knew I made the right choice! The tone is articulate and well defined. This speaker handles cleans as well as overdrive with single coils or humbuckers. After break-in it's sounds even better. This is my first experience with Emminence and would not hesitate considering them as replacements in my gig amps.

Great sounding little speaker. I installed it in a Pignose G40V I picked up used the other day. Major improvement over the stock Chinese speaker. Got it on 15% off accessories sale also which made it an even sweeter deal.

I know this will seem crazy to some, but I swapped out the speaker in my Four Force EM1 with this speaker. The amp was good, but I though the stock speaker was holding it back. I was right, After about 3 hours of break in, The Legend really opened up the range on this amp and made it warmer and more articulate, The Cleans are Fender tube pure and the gain is gritty and controlled without sounding harsh and trashy. Great upgrade, made this amp really come alive! Musicians Friend as usual has the best price around!

Comments about Eminence Legend 1058 10 In Guitar Speaker:

I put one of these in my FourForce EM1 5 watt amp. I really like this amp, But I felt like the stock speaker was holding it back from it's full potential. I know a 75 watt speaker seems like over kill for such a small wattage amp,and the cost of this speaker is over half the cost of the amp, but I wanted to get more headroom on the amp before the crunch started in, I also think that the stock speaker sounds thin and brittle as you turn up the crunch on this amp. Major difference in clarity, smoother crunch and dramatic bass and mid range improvement. The over drive crunch is smooth and growls now instead of the nasil thin, brittle sound I was getting before. Impressive speaker, adds depth and fullness, Great Buy for me. It really brought out the best in this amp!

I upgraded a new Pro Junior Pro with this speaker. I love the sound of the amp but since I replaced another Eminence, speaker, made for Fender, I don't know that it made a dramatic difference. Nothing against the speaker, it seems to have tamed a little brittleness on the highs. I might spend the money on something else. It would be a great choice if you needed a replacement.
