This speaker has one of the sweetest tones I have ever heard. Makes me drool thinking what one of the Eminence 12inch speakers must sound like. I put this in a 25W solid state Fender Champion 110 practice amp, and this amp (which was loud to start with), got louder. But not harsher. So smooth, round, clean, clear, and nuanced, I swear it's close to a tube sound now. There are harmonics in the sustain I never knew were there before. And it'll drive like crazy too. I was worried that the magnet wasn't going to have enough heft to yield a defined bass end (the Ragin' Cajun is bigger), but it is so perfectly well defined and balanced with the mids and highs, I cannot imagine any Celestion matching it. And here's the deal: Made in the USA, baby! The Eminence website has sound samples of all of their Patriot (American sound) and Red Coat (British sound, voice coils sourced from the UK, not China) speakers. You are going to find the tone you've been looking for. I did.
So I owe this review to the Roland Cube 30x community... I've been playing guitar for 20 plus years and am a tone freak! I really like the Cube 30x for it's portability a practice jam sessions. Been using it for a couple of years now, but over time decided to dump it because it wasn't giving me the tone I wanted. My big rig is a Peavey Triple X. Anyway, I read a couple reviews on the Eminence Delta Demon in this amp; but to me it was a bit dark when I sampled it on their website. I went with the Copperhead because it was a 75 watt speaker instead of 100 watt. End result, I am impressed. A worthy upgrade for this amp. It has more power, more headroom and handles all the Roland built in effects much better. Biggest improvement is on the percussive side and the Reverb finally sounds right! This was always a flaw with this amp IMO. The amp no longer flubs on higher volumes and I can push the amp harder. It actually sounds right! I would actually buy this amp/speaker combo again if it was stolen. Swapping out the speakers was easy, just had to change the connector on the (-) side to accept the new speaker connection. Hope this helps.
About 2 years ago, I put a couple Copperheads and a couple Ragin Cajuns in my Fender HR Deville 410. Significant improvement. The Copperheads provide a nice warm, balanced tone with a punchy, but not overbearing midrange. The Ragin Cajuns provide a big sounding low-end and sparkly (but not harsh!!) top end. Together, my cabinet sounds huge. Whereas the Deville's stock speakers are bright and raspy, the combo of these 2 Patriot speaker instantly added warmth and depth to the tone, even before they were appropriately broken-in. Additionally, these speakers really help improve the sound of the Deville's OD, which is often maligned; when driven, my Deville now reminds me of a JTM45 (though not exactly, obviously) - this is saying a lot because the JTM45 is typically played through closed-based cabs w/12s, not 10s. Finally, while these speakers can help you get aggressive (not metal-aggressive) tones, they still produce an un-mistakably tradional 'American' speaker tone. The Copperheads pair perfectly with the RCs to provide a classic Fender 410 sound for the modern rock'n roller.
