I bought this as a low-cost upgrade to my Fender HRD stock speaker, and it does the trick. It adds a bit more mellow, warm response than the stock speaker. And for the price, it's hard to beat.
Every review I read was positive so I decided to give it a try since I suspected that a Greenback was the sound I was looking for but I use a 2x12 cab and a 125 watt amp so the 25 watt Celestion wouldnt cut it plus I heard the regular Celestion GB was harsh and I already had harsh with the G12T75 and the Vintage 30. The G12T was good for certain styles but not for that in between organic medium gain full sound, it was real tight but scooped mid left out alot of definition. This Emi legend has a mellow sound, it is really balanced and was the closest thing to the sound I was looking for. I put 2 in my 2x12 and it was a pleasing in between mellow sound that also rocked. I decided to experiment and i have been gigging with a combination of the Emi Legend and 1 Vintage 30. This seems to be a real good match up and seems to give the best of both worlds. The Vintage 30 adds some sparkle and definition(and unfortunately a little bit of the mid harshness) to the legend but the legend seems to balance out the harshness. The V30 also adds some fuller bass that the Legend seems to be lacking. I am hoping the Vintage 30 harshness will go away after break in but its not bad at all with the legend. 2 Vintage 30's were just too harsh for my taste. The legend is my favorite so far but I am curious about the Private jack, supposed to be the same speaker with tighter but less bass.hmmm.
