I was able to try this speaker with a cheap practice amp (Behringer BX1200), and I was mightily surprised. Of course, a single 10" can't produce the lower lows of a 12", but this thing had some punchy characteristics, and had none of the edgy and phony characteristics of the stock 12" speaker. I really enjoyed it.
My first thought was that eight of these in a cabinet would really rock. Even a pair would be gig-worthy in the right cabinet with some good power and a little EQ. It would be a really neat project to put one of these in a larger cabinet and make a low wattage combo with big performance.
Anyway, I'm a guitar player, but this 10" produced very authentic, punchy bass sounds to my ear, and seems like it can easily be a key component in any home-brew concoction.
I bought 2 of these to put in my 2X10 cab ,and theyre awwsome! I have an older Fender 2x10 cab that was 8 ohm, and I wanted a 4 ohm but didnt want to spend $750 on Mark or Aguilar (Ampeg discontinued their 2x10 - 4ohm cab), these are 8ohm each and I made a 4ohm cab with them. I gig a lot and use an Ampeg SVT Classic which is 2 or 4 ohm ( 8ohm not recommended) and I didnt want to risk damage to my amp>I also have a 350 watt Peavey Mark XIII head with 9 band EQ, and these speakers handle all the power, well worth the money!!
