  • Now my Classic 410E Cab totally rocks.

As reviewed by David Scheall on 4/23/2013

Never before did I think an after market speaker upgrade could change the sound of a cab for the better until now. This speaker kit oozes blues, classic rock, country and jazz sounds. My 335 sounds awesome, the tele sounds incredible, the strats sound extra stratty, the les pauls, my lord the les pauls sound good. The sound improvement cannot be described. You must hear it to believe it. The Eminence web site and tone chart was very helpful in selecting these speakers. I almost went with Legends but I am VERY VERY happy with these. I replaced OEM Blue Marvel Classic 1029 speakers in an old used Peavey Classic 410E cab. The BM speakers sounded awful compared to the TM cab. I had never modded a cab before but it was pretty easy and only took about three hours. I used the original speaker jumpers for wiring. 2 speakers are wired in parallel x 2, then the 2 sets of parallel are wired together in series giving the cab an 8 ohm mono load and 4 ohms stereo. This effectively renders stereo mode unusable as you should never have two 4 ohm loads in parallel, but I only care about mono so this doesn't matter to me. You could get a 16 ohm load in stereo by wiring the pairs in series and then the 2 pairs in parallel and still have 8 ohms mono. I highly recommend these speakers in your cab or combo. They sound excellent, very soulful, clean, articulate, sweet highs, lows and mids. Having these will improve your playing because you'll want to play more just so you can hear yourself coming through these speakers. My bandmates laughed at me when I brought that used beater cab and now they all want a cab with this kit in it. Now the 410E cab keeps up just fine with the Egnator Tour Master 2x12 cab and it's Legend 80's.

  • Awesome combination

As reviewed by kray on 11/16/2010

I turned an old Peavey amp into a 4x10 cabinet (open back) with this speaker combo. I have the the Ragin Cajun installed in my Fender Super Champ XD and was pleased so when looking for a set to go in the 4x10 cab I went back to Eminence. I read on some guitar forums about the Ragin Cajun/Cooperhead combination and was pleased to see it available as a kit. There are other Eminence speaker combos but since I was mostly interested in playing blues and rock this was the most appropriate speaker combo for me. These speakers are heavy so expect your 4x10 to be heavy after installation. I have yet to put casters on my 4x10, but I do see that as a future must have. I've had the cab loaded with the Barkin' Blues set for over a year now and have had no problems. As with most speaker they do sound better after you break them in. So far I've used it with my Fender Super Champ XD and my Bugera V22. Absolutely incredible! All of the speakers are 75 watts so there is plenty of clean head room if you need it. These speakers sound good when pushed, your mileage my vary at don't-wake-the-baby levels.

  • Great Speaker Combination

As reviewed by Mike Maselli on 7/4/2013

While tone is such a subjective thing, experience will give you a sense of what this elusive entity is. I replaced the stock speakers in my 1974 Fender Super Reverb (no master volume) with the Barking Blues Blues Tone Kit and could not believe what I heard. Silverface Fender amps can be hit or miss and while this amp was "OK", it never hit that tone nerve that guitarist are always looking for. I knew the stock speakers were way past their prime and considered re-coning but didn't have the patients to wait. I have always had good luck with Eminence speakers so I took the plunge with this combo. HOLY COW!! This speaker combo brought my amp to a whole new dimension. They produced unbelievable clean tones at low volumes, and a classic blues crunch when over-driven. Just for reference, I own more than a few Fender Blackface amps and this speaker combo has easily nudged my Sliverface Super Reverb into their league. They sound especially good with single coil pickups but also give you that warm feeling using humbuckers producing just the right amount of mid-range (which in my humble opinion can be a tone thief if its too intense). The bottom line is that if you're into Blues, this speaker combo is nothing short of divine. Works pretty good for classic rock and country too. Turn the volume down, tweak the tone controls, and it does VERY good for clean jazz. For the money, you can't go wrong.
