Overview

Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. Compared to Elixir's original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try the original POLYWEB Coating on their 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. For more of a balance between bold and bright, Elixir's Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page.

When I bought my Martin HD-28V, before I took it home, I requested that we replace the Martin strings (which came special order straight from the factory with the guitar, so those strings fairly new), with the Elixir Light Medium gauge. The guitar playability and sound noticeably improved, even the guy at the guitar store decided to change all the strings on the other Martin guitars to these particular Elixirs, because of the sound, playability and longevity. I find the Light-Mediums to be a terrific balance of weight and tone. Lasts incrediblly long!! It's amazing. And a major bonus - I no longer have to put up with the shreaking squeaks when sliding.

My acoustic guitars are a 1965 Gibson J50 and a Martin HD28 2006. I usually use Martin medium gage strings but I decided to give these a try based on the reviews already posted here. I replaced a 2 month old set of martins on my D28, which were past their prime, with a set of these. The old Martin strings sounded as good or better than a new set of Nanoweb Elixir strings. Disappointing to say the least. I then replaced the Elixir strings with a set of light gage Martins that I had laying around. What a difference! No more elixirs for me.

I use these strings on my old G Series Takamine. I play it daily. These strings hold their tone for months before needing changed. They cost more but are well worth the price.

This is the first time I have used Elixir strings, and I am very impressed. The tone quality and feel are great. They are not as hard on my fingers as my old strings were. Time will tell how they hold for me, but I am very pleased so far!

Replaced Medium Martin Strings on my booming concert jumbo Epiphone EJ 200CE and Martin D-16 (fan-freaking-tastic picking guitar!!) with these strings ... big big difference! Playability time between sets is way noticeable! The bass is not too deep and the bright first three strings are pure heavenly in tone. My path toward these strings came from the Aussie pro cover artist, Pete Last. Not sure about other post(s) which have their set "going dull" part, but these strings are worth every penny to me!

This is the fourth set of Elixirs (over many years) I decided to try again-because I bought a maple bodied guitar that was too bright, and I knew these were strings that went dull in a week or so.
used less than a day, gave them to a fellow picker to try.
Way too expensive, as I usually change strings at least once a month, often much sooner.
            I'm sticking with D'Addario EJ16's.

Great Balance of tone and longevity

              By Steven Duitsman

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light/Medium (.012-.056):

For me, the compromise of having the bottome strings Medium and the top strings light work well with my style of playing and for my guitar.
I have tried many different strings over the years for my Taylor 914. I keep going back to the Elixir. I feel that the 80/20 bronze sound better than the phosphor bronze on my guitar.

I am not a professional but do play in a praise band regularly, plus in another band that plays a lot of acoustic rock from the 60s and 70s.

I knew that I did not want to go to Medium strings because I do a lot of finger style but I do strum as well. I found that the light medium strings to work well with my style of playing. The top 3 strings are from a light set, and the bottom 3 are from a medium set of strings. When I strum or pick hard I do not have as much fret noise on the lower strings, but the top strings are still subtle and suitable for finger style playing.

              These were a great find.
Have always had good luck with Elixir
cost 2 times as much as regular strings but the tone last at least twice as long. So if you are critical of your sound, these are worth it.

              Great tone and depth

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light/Medium (.012-.056):

I am only a hobby guitar player, im mainly a percussionist. I bought a Johnson guitar for 50 dollars from a friend who doesn't really play guitar. It was a decent sounding guitar for what is was. I recently snapped the high e string so I thought maybe it was time to replace the stock strings. I looked into these and the reviews were promising so I made the purchase. They were on backorder, that I did not realize at the time of the purchase but I actually received them quicker than I had expected. I put them on my guitar, and I probably wrap my strings around the pegs more than necessary but they took the tension very well. After the guitar adjusted to the new change they sounded very nice. Great depth, tone, clarity, and projection, plus they look great and im sure they will last very long. They made my cheap guitar sound amazing. I had brought my guitar into school before and played and after I put the new strings on it and I brought it in again and started to play. My band director said "wow your guitar sounds really good", not even knowing I had changed the strings. Do not hesitate, just buy these strings.

After the first week they are still amazingly bright. And I play the heck out of this new Taylor 714 I just got. Nicest, cleanest sounding strings out of the package that I have ever heard.
