Overview

Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. Compared to Elixir's original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try the original POLYWEB Coating on their 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. For more of a balance between bold and bright, Elixir's Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page.

I have played with many different kinds of strings and i have to say that this one is the BEST. I sound is rich and smooth and simply MIND BLOWING, not to mention they last a lot longer than other strings. You don't have to replace it as often because it is coated and is perfect for people with sweaty hands. Seems a bit more pricey, but worth it in the long run.

I have been using D'Addario EXP's (EXP16 and EXP17) on a super-jumbo acoustic guitar. Just on a whim I decided to try these Elixir's (Light Nanoweb .12's) to see the difference in the two as I wanted to really lock down which strings I wanted to use as my choice of strings as I have narrowed it down to EXP and Elixir's because I've heard they were the best. I put the EXP's on and 5 months later I switched to these Elixir's. The EXP's were still practically new - no wear on them, still had really bright tone and lots of reponse. I put the Elixir's on and I will admit that the strings sound good. However, there is the problem - the STRINGS sound good. I want the strings to compliment how my GUITAR sounds. I want my guitar to sound like a guitar and the strings to really bring out the brightness and the bass aspect as well. With the Elixir's it felt like I was playing these expensive strings other than this gorgeous guitar. So overall if you want a coated string for a couple bucks less with, in my opinion, more response and tone, go with D'Addario EXP16's.

Best acoustic strings ever

By TaylorPlayer

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I'm not sure how anyone can give Elixir strings any less than a perfect score. With the exception of the semi-high price point, Elixir's last 3x as long than the average acoustic string, and they never feel like rusty coat hangers, no matter how long they've been on yor guitar. I own a Taylor 710 L-30 and a 414ce, and wouldn't think of stringing them with anything else. Their brightness, longevity, and tone are worth the price.

Good sound.. spotty reliability

By jack black

from jackson, wy

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I exclusively used Elixirs on all my acoustics but the G string always breaks first whether it be 1 minute or 1 month after they've been on.. don't get why this widespread issue is still a problem with Elixirs but it's there.

I cant believe them.

By Mike

from Minnesota

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

i bought them as advertised as long lasting and rust proof. then after a month they were increadibly rusty to the point of no return. i tried to keep them clean with fast fret and other products but no luck. then i got a new set since my local shop only sells them and the 1st string broke uppon being tuned 2 steps below high e and punctured my guitar. long story short most other brands are better and cheaper too.

Best Sounding Acoustic strings but not good for alternate tunings

By Kevin

from Dallas Tx

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I absolutely love the way these strings sound and feel. They have the brightest sound and they last about 2 or times longer than your average acoustic string. The downside? Elixer acoustic strings are more exspensive than your average acoustic string. For any serious guitar player this shouldn't be a big issue. My main problem with the elixers is that they are horrible for detuning. I play a lot of funky tunings where I'll raise or drop my strings 2-3 steps. It never fails, the high E string and the G string always break when I detune. So In short if I were keeping my guitar in standard tuning or drop D only I would keep my acoustic strung with these, unfortunately with the amount of detuning I do and the price point of these strings it makes it difficult to warrant the purchse of them

These are all I use now...

By Moose Lewis

from Richmond, VA

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I'm a little perplexed about some of the issues sited in the other reviews, since I have been using these for a few years now with no worries. Most 'good' strings dramatically loose their shine (especially for recording) in a few days. These hold their excellent tone very well, and I don't need to change them nearly as often. I use a wide variety of standard and custom tunings for my work, and have not had a problem with string breakage - period. Keep making them this good, and I'll keep buying them... going to my local GC for a set today. Cheers!

Nice tone, high breakage

By Joe

from Huntly, VA

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

At one point I couldn't get through a show without the G string breaking. Spent money having my bridge looked at by 2 luthiers to no avail. They always break at the bridge. On my HD28, D35 and Taylor. I thought I had bought some from a 'bad lot' but it doesn't go away, always the G, at the bridge, durn near every show. But the tone is exemplary...the 'longevity' of tone doesn't do much for me if I can only get 2-3 hours of good playing before I have to buy another $5.00 single string. So there is stopping in the middle of a song, changing the string, very awkward, just about every perfomance - @ one venue folks mention how weird it is if I actually get through a night without breaking one...that's pretty weak.

Sterile lack warmth bass responce

By TOM LUKAS

from Fremont, Ca

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I put these strings on my Martin D18 and was disappointed with them. These strings diminished the bass and overall harmonic overtones that I am used to hearing from my guitar when strung with Martin/D'Addario phosphor-bronze sets. This is the first set of coated strings I've used on my guitar so I can only judge them against non-coated strings.

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

Although I have only been playing for 2 yrs, these strings have lasted a while. I Like to jam out a couple hours a day on my acoustic and im hitting the bottom strings pretty hard for a blues'e feel. Ive had these same strings on for about 6 months and they still sound like new. I recommend puttin them on your guitar any day !!!

Wow

By Aaron

from San Antonio, Tx

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

Tried these on my Martin DX1 and I am blown away. Everyone always talks about Elixir strings so I finally broke down and tried some, now Im a believer. The string feel great and have lasted me considerably longer than any other sting I have used. The sustain blew me away right out of the box and has not lost much even after a couple months of regular playing. I never clean my strings but these guys have stayed noticeably cleaner. These really brought my guitar to life. As an amateur with only a couple years playing I noticed an immediate difference, that says something about their quality. Price is worth it as they have outlasted other strings x3.

Great strings

By Diego

from El Centro, California

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I used these strings for the first time a few years ago, and I fell in love with the crispy tone that it produced when recently strung. I do not find anything bad about these strings other than the simple "play with clean hands" or else, your strings will not last. Very durable, resistant and will not let you down when you play your music and hear the crispy and clean tone from your acoustic.

Great Strings

By carlos

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

These strings were by far the best ive had so far. Ive tryed at lest three other trypes of stngs that eather broke or frayed quicky and couldnt hold a note. The one complaint i had was, it took long time to get the strings broken in. Over all theyve held up to my constant abuse. I play hard rock and some metal with my guitar so these strings can take all you can give them.

So far, AWESOME!

By JOHN EHLER

from TX

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I've been playing guitar for around 22 years and I'm quite impressed by these strings. They really seem to keep the new string sound. They sound better than other strings I've used, and in over 2 decades (I feel old now), I've used A LOT of strings. Also, they record VERY well, and seem to keep the tuning well. Much more sparkle, depth, and detail in my studio. I haven't noticed them playing easier (or harder), but they continue to sound awesome. So far (almost a month in) these strings totally kick a55! They just keep sounding new and awesome. :D Totally worth the investment. That's my $.02

LISTEN!!

By Keith

from Newtown, PA

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I'm open-minded to new things and have experimented with a variety of brands through the years, so when the Elixirs came along with a price 3x that of the average pack, I was definitely curious to see what all the fuss was about. I have an all-solid wood concert-size acoustic that I gig with frequently. I've played it for endless hours and know how it responds to flat picking and finger-picking. I look for the response of the strings to be linear. (Particularly in finger-picking - Each string needs to be heard equally.) I put on the Elixirs and it was like half my guitar was missing. Lots of bright high-end sparkle, OK low end, but severely lacking mid's. I played them for 20 minutes; trying different techniques, different styles of music... Finally, I couldn't take it any longer. I ripped them off and put on a brand I have often used before...Ahhhh there's my guitar. I know a lot of people rave about how long these strings stay shiny and fresh and feel so smooth, but really, who cares how long they last or how they feel if they sound so poor to begin with? Experiment with different strings and see what they give you, but most importantly...LISTEN to your guitar.
