Overview

Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. Compared to Elixir's original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try the original POLYWEB Coating on their 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. For more of a balance between bold and bright, Elixir's Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page.

New Type of String for me

        By Darroll

        from Merritt Island, Florida

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

I put this brand on a six and 12 string, the flat wine stops most fingers squeal when doing bar chords. But they are a little slippery, and it takes a little getting used to. The base and the high's are very rich, hoping to get some longevity out of them, can't imagine getting 10 years though. I live in Florida and have problems with rust, so far so good. I have two other guitars, I'm trying to decide if I will be putting them on.

        The Best 12-strings Around

        By Jay Gould _

        from Hidden Valley Lake, CA

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

I have used these for several years after trying other brands. These are simply the best sounding and longest lasting of the "light" gauge strings out there. They are lively with a brilliant tone and hold their tune. Though I sometimes use a standard E tuning, I most ofter use a D tuning on my 12-strings (a Guild JF55-12 and Guild F-312, which is down two steps from the standard E tuning. I have done this for over 50 years to relieve pressure on the bridge. My F-312 was purchased new in 1964 and I have never experienced any bridge lift issues by doing this. The D tuning also give me an even deeper bass tone for runs and riffs when I want it and the Elixirs sound great even at this lower tuning. I capo up to play with other guitarists with no tonality distortions. A bit more expensive than some other strings out ther, but well worth it.

        Only 12-strings I'll every buy

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

Best 12 string guitar strings on the market and best I've ever tried. On my Guild JF55-12 produces vibrant and lively tones from low to high notes. The light gauge provides for for quick action whether I'm finger or flat picking. They hold their tone and tuning well and works especially well when I have to capo up 2-4 frets. Only 12-string strings I'll every buy.

        My Long-time favorite

        By Jay Gould _

        from Hidden Valley Lake

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

I have used Elixer strings on my Guild JF55-12 and F250 string guitars for years. Tried others, but these are more lively and have greater resonance even when I tune down the guitar from an E tuning to a D or C tuning. I have had some string sets hold their resonance for 6 months or more of active playing, though I try and change them every 2 months or sooner. The price is a great value for great strings and gives me the option to re-string more often I also use these on my 12-string Alhambra bandurria Spanish mandolin. I tune it like a traditional 12-string (E tuning), which I know is not being a bandurria purist. But it works well, sounds great and I don't have to learn new chording or note patterns.

        Best Strings

        By Daniel Glenn

        from West Columbia, SC

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

I've used ELiXIR strings on all of my acoustics. I've tried to find them for my Takemine 12-string, and they just don't hold up. The sound and clarity of the Elixir, and tone can't be beat. You can't go wrong with Elixir. I use the light gauge on my acoustics. If push comes to shove you don't have to change strings as often. These are worth the price and will do you well. Try them once and you won't go to another string.

        Strong, lightweight construction

        By Andrew

        from The Woodlands, TX

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

The case is light, strong and has the straps at the back which when used, feels very secure. Unfortunately I bought the case for a 12 string guitar (thinking the dimensions were the same). Not quite. About an inch too long and slightly wider. However after some fine tuning with the Stanley knife, the guitar fits beautifully and I can attest to the quality of the construction and materials not usually seen to the sensible user! Very pleased with it.

These 10+ year old strings still sound great

        By Zeno Zenly

        from Eugene, Or

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.047):

I have a sweet Seagull 12-string (unlacquered finish) that was re-strung sometime in the mid to late 90's. Well, I had completely forgotten what strings were on there, and I told my friend that i NEED to figure out what these strings are because they STILL sound great after 10+ years!!! He took a look and told me they are Elixirs, one can tell because there is some kind of "shrink wrap" that has frayed down on the low frets where I play a lot. If it wasn't for the fuzz, I wouldn't bother to change them, they still sound great. I am a Believer in these strings.
