I always used Elixir for my Taylor 814CE and it never let me down. Use it for about 2 hours gig, came home, wipe it out - store it in my case, pick it up - it just stay sounding..!
These strings came standard on my Taylor and I played them exclusively for more than 5 years. As mentioned by other reviews, the polyweb makes for a slightly slicker/softer feel. The strings sound even and longevity(except for breakage) is exceptional. These are by far some of the most comfortable strings to play for me. The bad is that after a while the coating becomes frayed and is visible. More of a problem was the habit of breaking the g-string in these sets. Even worse is that I rarely got more than a few weeks out of the strings, and on several occassions the strings broke during the first week. I had my local shop check everything on more than one occassion, sanded the saddle and finally switched brands. Two years later, I have yet to break a string with the Martin XP's now on the Taylor. Only have to change them when they are dead. I still use Elixer strings on my other Acoustic in light guage and have not experienced problems, but the mediums are done.
These are the longest lasting strings I have ever used they keep their tone longer and dont rust and they sound great. They are a little expensive but its worth it if you buy the 8 pack it will be a long long long time before you need to buy more.
