Overview

The Electro-Voice R300 Headworn Wireless System in case is a complete wireless setup that includes everything you need to communicate or perform with freedom of movement. The convenient case contains the following components:
¢
The R300 Receiver
¢
The PL22 Cardoid Dynamic Microphone/Transmitter

R300 Receiver
Equipped with a range of unique, world-tour-proven features, the R300 brings state-of-the-art EV wireless microphone engineering to an unprecedented price point - more professional wireless performance for less.

With a sleek, low-profile design and durable construction, the R300 receiver system is equally at home on a table top or in a 19-inch equipment rack. Its simple controls and easy-to-read display are designed to provide the ultimate in user-friendly operation. Rack-mount kits and front-mount antenna cables are available for professional installation. For applications with up to four receivers in one rack, the APD4+ antenna splitter can provide antenna and power feeds.

HT-300 Handheld Transmitter

The HT-300 metal handheld transmitter is made to withstand the rigors of daily use while being comfortable in the hand. The unit's PL22 dynamic microphone capsule offers the perfect all-around solution for speaking, singing, and emcees. The PL22's cardioid pickup pattern rejects surrounding noise, helping to control feedback while still allowing an experienced vocalist to "work" the microphone.

ClearScan
Proven at the highest level of touring and trusted in thousands of installations around the world, Electro-Voice's industry-leading ClearScan system scans through the R300's 32 preset channels and selects the clearest channel - all with the touch of a single button. In an increasingly challenging RF world, ClearScan gives you the confidence to go wireless without worry, ensuring noise-free operation and the longest operating range.

EZsync
Matching the R300's transmitter and receiver frequencies is also as simple as the touch of a button. EZsync uses infrared technology to set the transmitter to the correct frequency, confirming operation in one automatic step. Error-free wireless setup has never been easier.

Consumer Alert:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCCs wireless microphone website at: www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.

Got 4 of these for our praise & worship group at church. They're used in the sanctuary with transmitters 80 ft (more or less) from the receivers. Handsets have a good, solid, rugged feel. On/off is not too tricky and orange backlit LCD on handset shows channel/freq, mute, battery status clearly.

Sound clarity is great for vocals, with an adequately wide range, crisp highs and some proximity effect. As with any mic, a vocalist's experience level and whether the handset is stand-mounted or held will affect the overall sound. (To less-experienced vocalists, become familiar with a mic's tone characteristics, and practice your technique in order to effectively "play" the mic.) Handling noise is not bad at all.

With 4 units in use, we've had a few instances of some faint hiss in certain situations when vocalists move close together in a group. It usually seems to be 1 of the 4 that reacts (not necessarily the same one). It bothers me more than anyone else (some don't even notice), but I'm still working with combinations of channels to eliminate this. There are 4 groups of 8 channels each (32 total), but EV advises if using more than 2 units simultaneously to make channel selections all from one group - don't know why.

The receivers have some handy features The light-blue backlit LCD display shows signal strength, channel number (or frequency of that channel, if you prefer), adjustable squelch level and whether the unit is locked to changes or not. Gain control is on the back, which is kind of inconvenient with 4 units lined up together - but plenty of gain for our mixer.

If you're looking for reliability, look elsewhere.

I purchased these mics roughly four months ago, excited to finally own a durable set for my karaoke shows, as their housings are made of metal. Little did I know that I would be making a terrible mistake, as they're the most unreliable mics I have ever used. The Clear Scan feature doesn't work worth a darn, as at least half the time I use it, it sets the mics to a channel that's anything BUT clear. Dropped signals...static/electronic popping...it's all part of the package. Oh, sure, the sound quality is great...when they work. I wish I could return these lousy things, as they've proven to be nothing but a waste of not only my money, but my time as well. Stay far, far away from these mics!

Comments about Electro-Voice R300 Handheld Wireless System in Case:

I previously used a Samson concert 88 and while the sound was OK, its build quality was pretty poor. I DJ for kid's events and the Samson met its end at the hands of a boy who felt he needed to drop(throw) the mic to impress the girls. No more plastic for me. The R300 has a touring grade build. Metal everywhere from the mic to the base receiver. The sound quality was a also a step up for me and had better feedback rejection which was a huge plus. The range was also excellent and rivals what I have seen the better Shure systems deliver. I would not hesitate to buy more of these.

Comments about Electro-Voice R300 Handheld Wireless System in Case:

The setup on the receiver couldn't be any easier! The ClearScan feature is simple and easy, and I really like having a handheld with a metal body. The sound quality is absolutely top notch and I'm "shure" it rivals other brands at higher prices. The feedback threshold is extremely low, which works well for passing the mic to an inexperienced user, but the response and sound quality are high enough to satisfy any professional.

I bought two of these, and had to source other parts to rack mount them and remote mount the antennas all in a flight case, but I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Comments about Electro-Voice R300 Handheld Wireless System in Case:

Although I got this couple of week ago, and used for couple of time. But this wireless system is excellent with durable metal handheld transmitter, good sound quality, good signal. It seems so good that I already order another one. Also the price is good too.
I think some other manufacturer charges unseasonably high price for the similar items with poor quality.

Comments about Electro-Voice R300 Handheld Wireless System in Case:

I was so excited to receive a wireless mic made of metal that the people at my church possibly couldn't break, but it failed me within one hour of rehearsal. During our choir rehearsal, I set it up and turned the trans/rec on and it sounded excellent for a voice that is hard to work with every Sunday with flat EQ. Then after less than an hour, the guy using it says the mic isn't working. I'm thinking he hit the mute on the mic, but that was not so. I tried ClearScan and Sync about 20 times. I keep getting good reception, but the audio level never moved during testing and making sure it was plugged in the mixer and not in mute. I finally gave up and am sending this mic back. We were so disappointed that this mic had so much potential but was a brick. Being my first experience with EV, this didn't go too well at all.

              .
Bought two for my karaoke business and couldn't be happier. Add the dual rack mount (RM-D) and kit (FMC-K) to bring antennas out front (if you need to) and you're still at less than $600 for a pair of these nice sounding mics. I did find they sound "brighter" than an older AudioTechnica wireless I still use and had to dial in a bit more low eq but no probles otherwise. Very sturdy metal body versus cheap plastic found in other wirless mics. Clean looks, balanced feel, extremely easy to set up and they claim to have a 14 hour life on two AA batteries....... will update more after I use them for a few gigs.
