What Feedback?

By Elliot

from Undisclosed

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

This is a mic for screamers and whisperers. The "flat-top" windscreen puts the mouth nearly on the capsule allowing whisperers a lot of gain before feedback. There is also a low frequency roll off switch for those that like to eat the mic. This mic also handles high spl's for the screamers out there. Almost no handling noise and the capsule suspension design makes it pretty indestructable.

Best On Stage Mic I've ever found

By Bob McFarland

from Georgetown, TX

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

I know the hype is all about how loud you can play with this mic and not get feedback and while that is absolutely true, that's now why I've used this mic in two different bands now. I play contemporary Christian music and generally we're not head bangin' metal licks (well most Sundays anyway :-). Every time I've put up a row of 5 or 6 different but well known (you've probably used them youself at one time or another) very good vocal mics on stage and had the band, music director and sound guys listen to them one after the other with different singers and even micing acoustic instruments, the hands down winner (100% of the votes, I kid you not) each time has gone to the EV ND967s. By comparison most other mics sound muddy and lack detail. The 967s have about 20db more output (no joke) than a SM58 for example and are much more sensitive at a distance due to the large diaphram and rare earth magnets so they also work extremely well micing acoustic instruments like the cello, mandolin or acoustic guitars without pickups. The high output also means you can turn down the mixer input gain for a cleaner sound and the hypercardiod pickup pattern is great for rejecting feedback from stage monitors and side bleed from other noise sources besides the one right in front of the mic. This is a truly great mic. Sometimes I provide sound reinforcement for other bands and several of the singers have actually tried to buy my mics from me. I tell them to get their own. Occasionally Guitar Center has a sale on them. I got 6 for the church last year on sale for $100 each. But, Yes at the normal price they really are worth 2X the price of a Shure 58. Oh yeah, the screw off 2 stage pop filter and screen is great for disinfecting - when flue season rolls around. The screens on any mic can get just disgusting. No problem with this one. Just clean with alcohol or throw them in the dish washer.

Best dynamic mic with range

By WebAndNet.com

from Houston

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

I've used the Sennheiser e935 and this mic extensively and have used many mics under $125 street price. The Sennheiser has smooth boomy lows, which works really well for masculine songs. GuitarCenter's excellent rep recommended this mic, and I'm even more impressed with this mic. It can go lower than the Sennheiser (but without the boominess and smoothness) and it has terrific highs. And it's extremely clear. Vastly superior to all the under $125 mics. Compared to the Sennheiser e935: e935 is better for low-pitch songs; this is vastly more versatile. This is the mic to go with for someone with vocal range and also likes clarity.

Great mike for gigging.

By Robert Jennis

from Lakeland Florida

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

I have been a happy Shure 58 user for years, but I recently decided to update to a mic that could bring out the dynamics of my voice and punch through the sound of the rest of the band. After doing my research on the webb I decided to go with the EV ND967. It took a little getting used to the difference between the Shure and the Ev,but after a little experimenting with angles and placement on the mic, I am thrilled with the difference. The EV ND967 brought out the lows I hadn't been getting as well as a clarity I had never experienced before. The response I get when I am singing at my highest levels is amazing, but I warn you it picks up everything, so be careful with your diction.

This flat head kicks son!!!!!!!

By Derek j. Atkinson

from Seattle

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

My SM58 just was not cutting it for small venues so by word of mouth I bought the EV N/D967 and Wow! The results were striking.I could actually hear myself over my band w/out much feed back .The personality switch is killer for when you want it nice to when you want it rough!! The flat grill is great though I did feel a slight shock but it's only Rock&Roll and I liked it.

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

This is my favorite Live Vocal Mic! I own 4 of them and they sound great! They have a very clear, precise sound and the are excellent in eliminating feedback.
Slightly more expensive than a Beta 58 and worth every penny! As a Super Cardioid Mic, proximity and mic control are important with this model. Great quality and performance.

    Attention vocalists!

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

I've been playing in hard rock/metal bands for 20 years. If you play in this genre, then you know it's always loud. So how many times have you left practice with a migrane or a blown out voice? Or even worse, doing a gig and someone comes up and says "Hey man, your band is sweet but I couldn't hear the vocals?". This mic is the solution. It's loud, clean, durable and has little feedback. It has been my dirty little secret for the last 10 years. Do yourself and your fans a big favor and stop using the garbage line of "industry standard" mics. The standard has changed. If you wanna stand at the top of the mountain, this is the microphone for you.

    Great Mic

    By Mark

    from Grand Rapids, MI

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Dynamic Vocal Performance Microphone:

You know how it goes. You need monitors when you're playing a four hour bar show so you don't destroy your voice. Your drummer is getting drunker and louder as the night goes on. You NEED to be able boost your vox w/o fear of the dreaded feedback. You need a mic you can trust. Enter the ND967, I've only played two shows with it and I love it completely. Went from a Sennheiser e945 (not bad) which comes with a VERY sculpted eq, if you've got 3 pot eq on your board there's not much you can add/take away without adding glaring trebles or removing all the lows. The ND967 is the exact opposite. Everything is there with a very thick low end. You definitely have to sculpt it to suit your voice.
