Overview

The Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Polychorus Analog Flanger and Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal produces a wide variety of tones, from mellow to maniac. It's the same classic analog chorus pedal that Kurt Cobain and Adrian Belew relied on to create their signature sounds. The Stereo Polychorus provides the lushest stereo chorus, rich chiming flange, and the over-the-edge effects that made this versatile pedal legendary.

The STEREO POLYCHORUS's four switch-selectable modes are:

FILTER MATRIX- A comb filter, which creates "chime" effects. In this mode you can sweep the TUNE knob manually for "custom" flanging.

FLANGE - A sweeping comb filter which creates a variety of modulation effects and whooshing sounds.

CHORUS- A sweeping echo for moving sounds such as "12 string guitar" and rotating speaker effects.

DOUBLE TRACK- A short-delay echo for spacious "stage effects".

Features
  • Mode selectable analog effects: chorus, flange, double track and filter matrix
  • Double track is a short slapback echo
  • Filter matrix mode disengages the sweep flange adjustment for manual flange tones
  • All effects have control over feedback and tune/delay
  • Sweep filter switch
  • Stereo outputs

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Polychorus Analog Flanger and Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Okay, so lets start with double track mode. This is a very nice sounding analog slapback delay. Very useful and organic sounding. Chorus mode sounds FANTASTIC. nice warm analog chorus sound, great for a thick nirvana type chorus. And with the right amount of tweaking it will do that 80s chorus sound, as well as go all a-wall when the knobs are cranked. The flange on this is very pleasant sounding. It's not as pronounced as a boss flanger, but it's great for a more subtle flange and Leslie type effect. The filter matrix is basically the flange stopped in a certain point in its sweep. great for metallic clanging type sounds. This is my favorite pedal I own. 10/10 GO GET THIS

    A wide range of sounds

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Polychorus Analog Flanger and Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Oh, I bet you can't pay that much for a chorus pedal! Bet you I can! Actually, it's a flanger, too, so it is kind of a good deal. You'd be into the same money if you bought the equivalent Boss chorus and flanger pedals, but would not get the E-H name anywhere on your pedalboard. If you want that Nirvana "Come As You Are" sound, it is right here. The "mode" switch is helpful for getting to a set style, which you can then customize with some of the other knobs. It's the first stand-alone chorus pedal I ever purchased, but I like it better than the ones on the multi-pedals I own.

Too Many Wild Sounds To List

    By Pete Albert

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Polychorus Analog Flanger and Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is no ordinary chorus pedal. You can combine parameters to achieve effects ranging from the simplicity of a slight wash of chorus, to the monstrosity of de-tuned, ring modulated cacophony. And everything in between. If you're thinking about adding standard flange or chorus effects to your tone, the Polychorus will give many shades of those aforementioned effects. Tinkering with the width and depth knobs will turn these normal effects into metallic madness, which you can make warble, boomerang, pulse, and sustain. I could bore you with knob twisting talk, but trust me, you'll know what I'm talking about when you blend the parameters together like the Tone/Delay, Sweep Filter, Sweep Rate, and Feedback. Speaking of the Tone/Delay, this function will give you a decent slapback delay on it's own, but of course, can be twisted into a wash of sick, vibrating reverb. I placed an Fulltone OCD in front of the Poly, and with only a touch of chorus dialed in, was able to get a really cool thickening effect which makes power chords deeper and single-notes thicker (think of a violin-like tone with a touch of fuzz). It makes my PRS McCarty sound even more powerful. Other things the Poly can do are rotary speaker simulations, mild to extreme vibrato, string doubling, some ring modulation, and much more. The Polychorus is a quiet pedal- no hiss or white noise or anything to mar your tone when it is engaged. It is true bypass and runs on a 9V adaptor. It doesn't take batteries. This pedal isn't cheap, but is worth the price.
