This pedal makes any guitar or bass sound like its a thousand dollar instrument. I run my Squier P-Bass special through it and it sounds like my high dollar Fender J Bass. When running it through guitar you can make humbuckers sound like single coils, and single coils sound like an acoustic guitar. I mainly use it for bass, but it is definitely and amazing pedal!

I have this and I am returning it. It sounds amazing, but it's too noisy to be used with a clean set up. I used it with and without a Boss Compressor and it had the perfect country snappy tone, but again, the noise ruined it for me

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

I couldn't figure out exactly what it is from the description or youtube reviews so I bought one. I'm not sure why they call it an 'attack' EQ because it doesn't appear to alter the actual attack (like a BBE sonic maximizer) but it is an EQ.

The center knob controls the dry signal level, set around two O'clock with the other knobs down makes this a buffer with some clean boost available. The right knob brings in some high end, no mids just really hi-end. The left knob brings low end, kind of sounds like having the tone knob on the guitar all the way down. With the center knob up you can get a (very) little low cut when you first bring the left knob up but by the time your around ten O'clock it's boosting the lows.

I tested it ahead of my dirt pedals and it definitely can alter your distorted tones. I haven't tried it after but I'm thinking it can do some interesting shaping and/or boost after distortion too. It's different than a graphic EQ and can definitely improve or destroy your tone depending on how you twist the knobs.

Right now I'm looking at as a utility tool for when you can't quite get that perfect tone - I'm mostly a studio player so the live guys might see a permanent place on the pedalboard for it - even if it's just as a boost (or anti-boost, use it to cut the volume but thicken the rhythm tone and cut it off to bring up the level with a more cutting tone).

Like all the EHX pedals it's well built and very musical sounding...

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

I wanted an equalizer pedal and researched and debated about several different ones and then, in a last minute decision, bought this thing. My tone has improved tenfold and now without the Knockout my guitar just sounds flat to me. It's quiet, simple and the price is right. This was the secret sauce that I've been looking for. Thanks EHX, you win again.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

Really surprised this pedal is not more popular among guitar players. I found the EHX Knockout to be a great tool for sculpting your basic tone at the beginning of my signal chain. I love both Les Pauls and Stratocasters but could never find a tool to help get that "in between" sound of both guitars. The Knockout comes the closest to achieving that goal. It definitely removes much of the muddiness inherent in humbucker pickups while adding some of the sparkle found in single coils. This is a subtle pedal and if you max out any of the controls it sounds bad. If, however, you spend a little time to dial in the right mix of low-pass, dry, and high-pass filters you will be pleasantly rewarded. If you want to add some sparkle to your Les Paul style guitar I would recommend you give it a try.

Knockout is a great tone shaping tool

      By kevin garcia

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

I wasnt sure what to expect from this but was kind of disappointed with it in front of amp. In the effects loop this thing is awesome at shaping distortion. I almost returned it because there is volume loss on certain settings wich sound really good but the volume loss was too much for me. So i decided to try this on my subwoofer wich is seperated from my tone by a peavey kosmos and now this thing punches like crazy. It is a great pedal with tons of capabilities besides turning a strat to a les paul etc... A truly distinct tool.

Really surprised how musch I like this pedal! Can get very tele-ish sounds out of my PRS with it. Much more so than coil tapping and without the drop in volume that coil tapping does.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

Well first of all. Got it because I saw it in a music store and it was [$]. I tested it out at the store but didnt heard it as good as when I used mi rig. Got it home a week later and started playing with it when I went to mi church on Monday night for prair service. It just blew me away how it reacted to mi 6 string Ibanez RG. The depth of the sound coming out of my amp was exactly what I been looking for.

      Provides versatility of sound

      By Profdave

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use this pedal in a variety of ways, but mostly to make an inexpensive Dean Boca electric 12-String sound more like a Rickenbacker 12. It's very easy to use, and lets you adjust your sound with high-pass and low-pass filters. Electro Harmonix claims the pedal can change your sound from "Gibson to Strat to Telecaster, with innumerable shades in between." I've found this to be true. With the right tweaking, you can also get a bit of the Rickenbacker sound. Of course, nothing can replace the original sound, but this comes very close. This pedal is an inexpensive solution for expanding the tonal range of your guitar.

      There's no going back...

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've messed around with all kinds of pedals, trying to find that "right" tone... but still never quite got it. The EH Knockout is the PERFECT tone pedal! This one small, rugged (Made in the USA!) pedal replaced three others on my board. I gave the Knockout 5 stars for features because it has everything you need in three simple knobs - no wasted space. I wouldn't have believed what this pedal can do if I didn't try it myself. Do yourself a favor - buy this pedal! My American Strat sounded pretty good... then I ran it through my Knockout pedal and it came to life! When I switch the pedal off now, it sounds all wimpy and gutless.

      stratatele

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Knockout Attack Equalizer Guitar Effects Pedal:

i got this pedal yesterday and it sounds great. i have an ibanez rg2ex1 not the best on guitars so i wanted to get some god clean tone cause it really doesnt have any, so i got this pedal and its great, and awesome with ssome reverb. noe i use it with my neck and my neck/bridge pickups because it doesnt change the sound to much on just the neck. on the neck it sound like a strat om the neck/bridge it sounds like a stratatele is what i call it. by the way my settings are LOW is only turned .25 inch at 8 oclock, DRY is about 11:56 oclock, and high is all the way turned. ooo and yeah this pedal doesnt help with distorted tones at all but i didnt try it with overdrive.
