This pedal sounds really nice -- particularly the spring reverb. For me, however, there is one HUGE drawback: it can't run off a battery!! And if you believe the instructions, it can't be run off any other 9V converter than the one they give you. Which means that I can't hook it up to my pedalboard. So now, to use this pedal as part of my setup, I have to find AC for my amp, my pedalboard AND for this one pedal. Major pain.

Excellent Pedal

By John

from Redondo beach, Ca

I had a last day unreturnable credit with GC and I needed a reverb pedal, but I didnt have time to try them out. What ever I got, I was stuck with good or bad. I read the reviews here and went with it. Turns out the reviews are ALL CORRECT. It sound flawless, regular reverb to surf reverb. Sounds PERFECT on both my Stat and Ovation acoustic elect. Yes, the 'flerb is strange'. I think it was an unexpected biproduct of, so they put a toggle on it and packaged it - nothing to lose). Its a 5 star for sure, but gets the 4 for no battery capability. (Cheese with that whine). Glad I got it for sure.

So Sweet

By Michael Brozovic

from San Diego, CA via Detroit, MI

This little box does exactly what I need it to do. I have it running through the FX loop on my Orange Dark Terror and it sounds great! VERY responsive to your picking. I don't think you're going to find a better reverb pedal at a better price. Being an EHX, it's also built like a tank. Get one!

Monty Python should have looked for this guy

By Ben Manis

from Marietta, GA

Seriously a very good reverb. Probably the simplest but best one out there (except for maybe the cathedral or an actual reverb tank on an amp.) The spring and hall reverb are wonderful and fill out my sound great since I don't have reverb on my amp head. The "flerb" for now is kinda lacking for me since I have no use for it. But for anyone needing reverb for there effects unit, you can absolutely not go wrong in getting this pedal!

Do not fear amps with no reverb! Great for MESA

By ace

from dc

I struggled with the MESA recotoverb stock reverb which did not sould like a good reverb should. I picked up a single rectifier and used the holy grail through the effects loop and holy moly! The spring setting sounds like a good old fender reverb, and the hall setting was huge at low volumes. If you have a mesa or marshall with no reverb, run this through the effects loop and you probably won't need a delay pedal. Nice and quiet and relatively cheap.

Behold...the God of Reverbs!!!

By Mitchell

from Seattle Washington

Ok, so to start out: I'm a guitarist who owns a Fender Blues Jr, but I don't want to have to haul it around to practice. Even though the amp is light enough, I may be lazy haha. So I bought a Fender Champion 600 5W Tube Amp, It sounds amazing, but it doesn't have a built in Reverb like the Blues Jr does. So after many days of frustrating digital reverb pedal tests (most of which sounded overly digital and computerized because, well..they're digital) I finally found this one under the desk glass at GC. I was blown away! Its amazing! Its equal or better than the spring reverb on my Blues Jr! I could do without the "Flerb" setting, but the Spring and Hall settings are amazing! So many tones you can get out of it!!! I love Boss pedals, and this one beats out Boss by a landslide! Great vintage look, feel, and sound. Doesn't feel cheap. Its super tiny, but it doesn't make a difference. You can get sounds like Dick Dale, Arcade Fire and Fleet Foxes. It absolutley is amazing through a Telecaster. Get it (if possible, the original non-nano) you will not be dissapointed.

babtized by the holy grail

By alan

from el cajon california

all I have to say is, if electro harmonix is known for one thing, then it is its reverb. but there is more....obviously. for me, compared to other reverb pedals it sounds more natural. the spring setting is great for lead tones and also overdrive type tones while the hall setting is great for clean tones or clean ballads and also for chording on either clean nor overdrive and I dont know what the heck flerb is there for...just kidding, it is great for bluesy stuff. so all in all, it is a great pedal for a meh price,at least for me, but remember when it comes to reverb, electro harmonix is usually the best choice out there.

its "holy grail" for a reason

By alan

from el cajon, ca

ok.the spring produces sounds more for blues and soloing and for distortion.the hall is more for ballad like stuff.for example "one" by metallica.(when you turn it up half way on hall,it sounds completely amazing).and the flerb is worthless in my opinion.all in all,it is good.it is worth the bucks.

Good reverb-no side effects

By Joe Guitarplayer

from Indiana

I recently got this to use with my plexi reissue.I set the amp "clean-ish" & use an OD/boost pedal for distortion.I needed a reverb for my clean tone (I prefer delay for OD tones) & this works very well for that.No noise (though I only turn it up to about 9 o'clock - which is plenty),no signal coloration, boost or cut,the switching is silent & it sounds great. Also works fine jumped from a Boss pedal using a PSA 120s adapter but it does include it's own power supply as well.Great pedal.

Most Fender-Like Tone

By Sport

from Grand Rapids, MI

Let's face it - Fender wrote the book on spring reverb. Many pedals try to duplicate it and most are unsuccessful. This pedal has a great spring setting that actually works. If you like a high gain amp, but want to get some of that Fender reverb tone into your stuff, this pedal works the best in my opinion. The hall setting is OK, but the flerb setting is worthless IMHO. It doesn't matter - just use the spring setting and dial in the amount that you want. It works fantastic.
