I was looking for an all-in-one reverb pedal that can give me lush, shoegaze sounds, to a vintage plate reverb. This pedal does all that and more. Using this thing in stereo is definitely preferred, as it's a totally different animal than just using it in mono. You can hear a lot of subtle nuances when using it in stereo that just gives the sound a lot more character. The infinite reverb is also a great feature - my only complaint is that it only gives you a dry sound when you play over it, without any reverb. Despite this, the feature is really fun to play around with and gives you a lot of interesting sounds. Overall, this pedal is worth the money and is extremely versatile; and, like other EHX pedals, it's built well and is reliable.

I bought this pedal after seeing a few reviews on Youtube. I'm using a Carvin Bel-Air 212. Certain settings produce feedback when using the effects loop, so it has to be in front. My clean tone normally sounds bright and full. With the pedal on, it sounds like it's sucking the bass out of the tone. The Accutronics spring isn't as wet as I hoped for. The Cathedral is a decent pedal with different reverb options, but don't buy this if surf is your main style. For a Dick Dale tone, go with the FRV-1 or T-Rex Tonebug. I'm going to spend more time this weekend trying to dial-in a better sound, but chances are I'll end up returning this for one of the above mentioned pedals.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Had this pedal about a year now used it on clean, med low and high gain, has not failed me yet. give an awesome variety of reverbs from small rooms to big old church sounds, gives you the effect you need for the song or venue..... only downside is the size and price is a little high but tone, sound construction quality are all still good.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Wow what can I say about the Cathedral peddle that has not already been posted or reviewed, first off is that the peddle requires some miner bit of reading to understand the recall and save of each preset which is not that hard if you read the directions, but the sound of this unit is nothing short of spectacular as the 24 bit really is easily realized, the unit sounds great w/my JCM 900 Marshals with Black Label Society EV speakers and wow like big production sound too… Good job EHX!
Get one if you can afford the price tag as your sound arsenal will be thankfull…

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great competitive quality reverb box. It really does a good job with its available feature set. My only complaint is the non-buffered bypass. (no trails on effect disengage) No complaints about what the unit offers and what you can do with it for the money though. Especially because my unit just stays on anyway, in which case the signal is still getting driven to the amp in a quality way. I like the way the preset situation works too because I typically want one choice reverb sound most of the time (maybe slightly different depending on the song, but nothing that can't be done right before the song starts), and then one specific preset that's a quickly engageable 'more' sound. But when engaging or disengaging the preset, I didn't want that abrupt, disappearing previous trails thing happening. This pedal doesn't do that. It just ramps up or ramps down but stays active. Works well. Sounds natural. Unless you're turning the pedal fully off, you lose signal strength especially because it's probably last in your chain too, but hey. Can't have it all. Leave it on! Looks cool. Workable size. Pre-delay is immensely valuable. Blend control instead of level is awesome. Strreo is cool but would also benefit from a buffered bypass especially if you're running something strreo into it, but like I said, if you leave it on always.. no worries. Reasonable power consumption. Great unit. Best one for me right now. Tried a ton.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was an eventide user and still us the H9 daily, but I wanted a simple non-digital-sounding reverb to pair with H9 effects like chorus, wah, flange, etc. This unit is perfect. Can generate warm classical or jazz complementary reverb from small room to huge cavern, as well as metallic, rock, acid sounds. Controls are large to the touch, easily understood, lots of creative selection. I perform at least 3 times a week, usually more, on Nylon String (finger style) and pick on steel string. I use this with a Ramirez a/e, a 12-string, a les paul and several other similar guitars. I play in medium size venues with unpredictable acoustics, and this unit can be tuned to deliver appropriate reverb to all the places I've played, including outdoors. I play solo with rare performances with cello, violin, flute, doublebass. I play Bach, Beatles, Broadway; Baroque, Classical, Contemporary; ambient, rock and ethnic. You get the picture! NYC studio for 24 years, now in NC. Wish it ran on batteries also, but that is not an issue for me.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is absolutly the best reverb pedal I have experienced so far, much better that T.C.'s Hall of Fame. The sound quality is excellent, and the Cathedral offers far more control. Having the various types of reverb is one thing, but being able to customize to your sound, to your other equipment, and to adjust to different venues is just one reason this pedal is worth every penny. Lest we forget the presets for each type, which only adds to the versatility and usefullness. Additionally when this pedal is off, it's quiet, true bypass. This is a powerful and versatile piece of equipment and can take some time to dial in, but well worth the time. My only complaint/sugestion to EH, is to add a footswitch to the pedal so I can change presets without taking my hands off the guitar. I use this pedal at church in live praise & worship, connected to PA's, in my home studio, for practice. This pedal is very responsive to various playing styles, clean or distortion, works great in either lead or rhythm, electric or acoustic. It literally sounds awsome everywhere, you just have to know how to control it, but at least with the Cathedral you have the options to do so.

I like this pedal a lot, but I also like my TC Electronic Hall of Fame.

To those who said you can only use the included power supply to power this...

You should be able to use any other 9 volt power supply. From the EHX website: The Cathedral requires 9 - 9.6VDC at 200mA with a center negative plug. The Cathedral accepts Boss style AC Adapters.

It has so many effects for a reverb that the possibility of sounds are endless.
