Product Information

Plug in your mic & instrument & let your new voice—or voices—be heard.

The Electro-Harmonix Voice Box is a harmony machine and vocoder that packs a multi-functional vocal synth processor into a tough and compact chassis. Sing, and the Voice Box pedal gives you a troupe of backup singers following you in perfect harmony. Or use the built-in vocoder to unleash classic synth-robot sounds. The Voice Box's harmony processor creates 2- to 4-part harmonies directly from your vocals in the same key as your accompanying instrument. The Voice Box pedal's studio-quality reverb lets you independently add depth to your vocal harmony.

The focused 256-band articulate vocoder—designed by the same EMS genius who made vocoding famous, the Voice Box Harmony Machine and Vocoder Pedal—features adjustable harmonic enhancement and controllable format shift.

Great, but with some limitations

I use this for recording harmonized vocals, and vocoder, which is my favorite effect. It works best with octave harmonies that don't need to track to an instrument. It works OK with guitar but sometimes the original vocal cuts in. The guitar strumming also bleeds through a little, so you have to limit it. Harmonies are better with keyboard input, or I record MIDI, run it out to a keyboard and then back into voicebox. It really shines when used with different keyboard tones as input on vocoder. Adopts the tone of the KB. Good when mixed with different tones.

Not for live vocal performances

This item does not provide any real upgrade to enhance your vocals to that next level of live performance. In all circumstances there were occursnces massive amounts of feedback and distortion on the vocal channels. If you are looking to make those vocals have that extra punch buy a board with built In effects or a seperate rack mount vocal effects processor. I did end up rerturning it in for a refund. I am sure for an instrument inhancement application it would be great since I have used similar products for guitars.

Not quite up to par

The Voice Box is a nice little unit; however, it appears to not track the chords as well from a guitar as from a keyboard. It also appears to harmonize better with high pitched voices--females. I returned it after 3 days.
