I own this pedal. It is not a fact I am proud of, however, I will use my revolutionary vision of an "anti-electro-harmonix-state" to relate to you--the avid guitarist--that this stomp box should be stopped. I bought this pedal thinking, "Man, I finally have a decent upgrade"--what a let down. This supposed "true-bypass" is a joke. There is no such thing. Study philosophy ya marble-heads. Our stance on Electro-Harmonix should be the same: anti. Never waste your hard earned money on this crap.
I currently own this pedal.I have compared it to major brand names when it came to my decision.The big selling point to me was the maximum gain of 46db!!! I own strats & teles now versus the humbucker guitars,place this pedal first in your effects chain or in front of your amp's gain and WATCH IT GO!!! I love the attack 3way switch,makes it easy to set up.The volume control has so much HEAD ROOM,you'll need to start with small amounts.Make your single coils sing or sting with the right amount of sustain.My sound engineer is bias because he liked my old set up with an overdrive unit,I prefer compression now!!
I'm sure the effectiveness of this pedal varies SLIGHTLY, emphasis on slight, with different amps. That being said, I am playing out of a Fender Tweed Blues Jr. The most accurate way I can describe what this pedal does when engaged is like throwing a blanket over my amp and creating lots of hum/noise. The small amount of compression it provides is greatly overshadowed by the obnoxious noise it spits out of the amp. This is the first EH product I have used and I was not impressed whatsoever. My advice, save up and buy a Keeley.
