The EH-TM from Electro-Harmonix is a bottle-style tube microphone capable of multiple patterns: cardioid, omni-directional, and figure eight. It features dual large, 1.5 micron thick gold sputtered diaphragms and the Russian 6C15P tube in its discrete preamplifier circuitry. A Class A power supply, designed and constructed in the United Kingdom, powers the tube. An extremely high-quality shockmount comes standard, along with a sturdy case.
Its sound is both vintage and state-of-the-art, with a touch of third harmonic distortion to add warmth while maintaining overall clarity. The XY and AB patterns are especially effective when the EHTM is used in stereo pairs. It is capable on vocals, grand pianos, guitars, percussion, and other sources requiring definition and fidelity. Its 20Hz tp 20kHz frequency response is smooth and uniform throughout its polar patterns, and it handles high SPL while maintaining a low noise floor. An excellent mic for recording digitally where source warmth is especially desirable. Requires phantom power.
