I bought this pedal with the need of that missing piece to Gilmour's tone from the 70's and 80's and 90's. This thing is exactly what I thought it would be and more, an amazingly large but professional metal style pedal with a nice retro look to it. I love this pedal, if you are a Gilmour fan looking for this to add to the collection it is a must!
The Mistress Deluxe is an excellent flanger. This is the second one I've owned. The first one which I bought in 1976, recently went missing and hasn't turned up. I made a modification to the old one. I replaced the filter/matrix switch with a footswitch on top of the unit for easy access since I use that mode a lot. Eventually I'll do it again on the new one,after the warranty. I'm happy that the old ac cord has been replaced with a dc power supply. EH should make the box smaller since the on board power supply is now gone. There is unecessary empty space inside the box. I'm also happy that it is still every bit as good as my old one. Amazingly the price hasn't changed much since 1976 like prices of everything else in life! I recommend the Electric Mistress Deluxe to anyone.
For covering all the flange bases, the Electrics Mistress has always been the old standby. This nails all the expected jet-planes swooshiness and wavery shimmers, but also pulls off surprising imitations of phasers, choruses, and a convincing leslie sounds. It?s extremely versatility and can clone the chorused clarity of the Police, the submerged haziness of Nirvana, the streamlined sounds of Rush, or the psychedelic swirls of the Stone Roses. Three knobs take care of Color, Range, and Rate, while a bizarre Filter Matrix switch adds a tiny hint of a metallic ring-modulation when engaged. Combined with other effects, the Electric Mistress pushed the envelope of experimentation even further. Slap a distortion, tremolo, or auto-filter pedal before or after this and you will spend an entire afternoon making noise.
