It mounts directly to the PAR can!

The Par-DIM dimmer pack is a single-channel DMX dimmer that includes a convenient clip for mounting directly to the bracket of the Par Can it controls. It has 3-pin XLR input and output, 10 dip switches for DMX snd standalone operation, as well as LED power and DMX indicators. It's external fuse can be easily replaced, and it comes hardwired with a 18AWG 120V, Edison power cord.

Works As Advertised

Unit works as advertised and is fairly lightweight. A handy feature is the stand alone mode where DIP switches can be set to dim lights in increments of 25% without requiring a DMX controller unit. The mounting system on the unit isn't so great, though. A spring steel clip slides over the lighting fixture bracket - this part is OK. The unit is to be secured to the fixture bracket by way of tension via a machine screw threaded into a circular collar which has been very lightly brazed onto the clip and centered over a hole in it. When I attempted to tighten the set screw the threaded collar snapped off one dimmer. On the other unit I noticed the machine screw, even when tight, allows the dimmer to slide up & down the light bracket. To remedy, I easily snapped off the other collar with pliers, drilled a hole in the light brackets and screwed the dimmer fast with a self-threading machine screw.

poor quality

Do not buy these. I purchased 32 of these to run my par lighting. They failed immediately out of the box. Not worth the time it takes to install. Would be a great idea and product if it worked as described. Spend the extra money on a quality product.
