Bought this at the Guitar Center in Lawndale. I was able to get a great deal!! Price Matching! Wow! KT88. Wow. Deep and resonant. So many tones!!!! Wow. Overdrive and sustain!!!!#@$%. Artificial harmonics poppin' out of the amp. Played it through a Gallien Krueger 212s guitar cab with two Celestion 80w speakers in it. Wow! The amount of presence is insane. Some softer tones hard to get. Minuses. No reverb and presence control. The only reason why it is a 4 star amp.
This is my amp!! Went to GC to try out several amps. Was there two different times for about two hours each time. Bought a Vox AC 30, very nice amp too by the way, just not my style. Took it back and traded it for an Egnater. I was convinced either the Vox or the Fender Hot Rod Deville was my amp. Played them over and over again. Plugged into the Engater and it was love at first sight!!! I've had this amp for several weeks now and I love this thing. Do not over look these amps if you're in the market. I'm into hard rock, classic rock, punk and alternative rock, i.e. White Stripes, and this amp is just a powerhouse with major tweak ability!! There's no doubt why they named it Tweaker. Long story, short, this amp has impressed me and i'm not easy to please!!! Cheers Egnater!! You definately got it right. Egnater WILL go down in history along side Fender, Vox, Marshall, Mesa, etc?
Wow! I run the Tweaker 88 through an Orange PPC212 and it sounds amazing... Play classic rock / rock and have had no trouble finding tones to run with. I spend a lot of time on the rhythm channel AC switch engaged and it sounds phenomenal. Boosting with the gain dialed up and the tone is searing. Plenty of options on tap and the KT88's can growl like a wild animal... or dial back for warm cleans that can get bright and smooth. This amp covers a lot of ground. Appears to be built well. I have only had the head for a few days... cant say anything yet about reliability. The look and feel is great in my book - has a great weight for taking it out with you. My other main amp is a tourmaster and this little head and cab I can carry with one hand behind my back in comparison the tank of a tourmaster. I would like to try the tweaker cab with it. I would suggest a tourmaster 412 with V30's... at 88 watts the 412 cab would sing. The 212 Orange cab / tweaker 88 is an outstanding combination to my ears.
The Egnater Tweaker-88 with its matching 2X12 cab is a beautiful sounding amp. Its tone is very pleasing with a HUGE frequency range, as compared to its little brother, the Teaker-40. You can mix and match Bruce Egnater's overdrive among US, AC, and Brit tone stacks and go from absolute clean to over the top drive levels. I chose this amp over the Mesa Boogie TransAtlantic 30 for its tone tweaking features. I took it for a test drive on a gig the second day I owned it, and it blew me away. The only effect I used was delay. My soundman said, "this one's a keeper" - agreed!
This amp is just plain awesome. It has great sounds that can literally be tailored to anyone's taste and both the clean and distortion channels shine. The amp also has a great boost function on each channel, which if you're a gigging musician like me is super functional and important. The kt88 tubes really create some deep bass , if you want, or the switches and multiple eq settings can dial in any tone. I play a lot of rock and hard OD rock and this thing cranks! Tons of distortion is there and lots of power to back it up. You have to sit down and play one of these for a good hour to find your sound and experience all that it's capable of. The amp seems very well built and I think egnater hit a home run with this price point. A++
I have spent all day playing every tweaker in guitar center and this is the only one I would ever spend money on. The other tweakers (15w and 40w) had a terrible muddy distortion channel, but not this one. I was floored at the bottom end and heavyness this thing was able to put out and all on a 2x12 cab. The boost functions are very handy and really give you more output it is basically giving you another channel which is great. The footswitch made operating this thing a sinch and there was no lag or weird sounds when going from channel to channel. However it doesn't have reverb...your killing me Egnater.
