Overview

The 15W Egnater Tweaker 112 ultra-compact all-tube combo amp offers versatility with unique and sophisticated tone. The Egnater 112 combo serves up seemingly endless tonal variations via its onboard Tweaker selector switches. Powered by a pair of 6V6 power tubes, the Egnater Tweaker is a perfect tube amp for gigging.

The Egnater combo's gain, EQ, and master sections each have a Tweaker switch providing a wide range of tones from the ultra smooth and satisfying to fully over-saturated lead tones.

Hidden inside the Egnater Tweaker tube amp is a vast array of tones not usually found in such a compact combo amp. Each of the 5 front-mounted toggle switches changes the amp's character. The Tight and Bright switches shape the low and high end from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive. The Gain switch goes from sparkly clean to an all-out high-gain assault. The Egnater guitar amp's EQ switch selects tones from pristine American to classic Brit and even the illusive VX AC sound. Use the Classic/Modern voicing switch to choose either soft and smooth or hard and edgy power-tube tone. Even the most radical tone tweaker is sure to find the sounds they seek in the Egnater Tweaker 112 combo amp.

Let's start out by addressing the doubts some people may have about this amp. A lot of people are probably thinking that a 15 watt amp with 6v6s can't sound like two of the three amps it's supposed to sound like (Fender, Vox, and Marshall). To my surprise, the eq switch made an enormous difference in the tone of the amp and the celestion speaker helps with the British sounds. I'm able to get tones from clean jazz, to a classic rock tone, to full on thick, heavy metal. The other main concern many people might have is the power. My Marshall JCM 800 is only 12 decibels louder when they're both cranked to give an example. Since I can jam with any band with the JCM on 4, it shows that the Egnater can easily keep up. Believe what they tell you. This amp is everything they say it is, and is easily worth the extremely cheap price for an all tube amp that can keep up with the best.

Went into GC with the intent to purchase a used NOS blues jr. that I could mod and play around with. I noticed the tweaker and wanted to give it a whirl (based on other reviews I'd read). Played in store and I was able to get some convincing fender and vox tones, but nothing spot on. I really liked the advertised versatility and decided to take advantage of the 30 day return policy. Once I got this thing I home, I began to realize just how overrated it is. I A/B'd with my JCM 800 and Fender TR...not good. Regardless of how much "tweaking" I did, I could not get this thing to sound good. It never came close to getting that Marshall growl or the Fender sparkling cleans. It certainly has a sound of its own, but in the Tweaker's case, that is not a good thing. I really tried to like this amp, but after 2 weeks of agony, I decided to take this thing back and follow through with my original plans. Glad I did. Blues Jr. certainly has its flaws, but it loves pedals, has great tone, and the mods really help. I dont understand the great reviews the Tweaker gets. It takes pedals horribly and is extremely difficult to dial in a usable ton. It will be awhile before I plug into a chinese tube egnator again.

TONE, TONE, TONE!

By Jay

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Wow...what can I say about the Tweaker? I'm addicted. Soooo much tone comes out of this lil' box! It goes from Fender to Marshall to AC...and back again. Clean, dirty, super dirty, jangly,... pedals, no pedals...this amp can handle it and still sound awesome. I got the only one in the store and my friends are drooling over it. This amp can probably do just about any style, tones are easily shaped to preference. It's toggle switch city and I love it!

Fantastic Budget Amp

By Nick

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp based largely on the reputation of Bruce Egnater and Egnater Amps, and I have not been disappointed. Having played on several modeling amps, finding a tube amp with the tonal spectrum of the Tweaker at this price was quite a steal. The settings all give unique tones similar to, though not a carbon copy, the Fender, Marshall, and Vox amps. The gain produces a more vintage, 70's snarl, as compared to a more modern metal sound. The clean tone can be adjusted to whatever your heart desires, and all the switches produce new tones-there is no worthless switches. The only thing it is missing is reverb, but that is easily rectified with a nice pedal. This amp is perfect for people wanting a small tube amp on a budget and who desire several options. If you want a Fender sound only, buy a Fender, or buy a Vox if that is what you want, but if you want an amp that can dabble in several different sounds, this is a great place to look.

Absolute best for size and price!

By Cawaynus

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I play with a group of older guys like myself in nursing homes, senior centers, and civic centers, and wanted something with a good sound, yet not so big and heavy that I could not easily move it around. I like pristine clean sounds when playing the older country music we play, and this amp fills the bill. This amp sounds fantastic, especially with the added Holy Grail Reverb. I have 7 amps, and this is the one I now use 100% of the time. Real tube sound, killer volume if needed, and by buying on a 15% off holiday sale, it cost just under $500. Nothing else I have ever tried comes close for the money. I have had it for four months now, and just love it. I play it with a PRS CE 24 guitar and occasionally I play my Fender Telecaster Deluxe, and both sound great with this amp. Everyone is complimenting the sound of my PRS guitar with this amplifier. With the tweaker switches, you can find the sound you like, and then just leave it alone and enjoy! If you don't like the sound of this amplifier, you may need to consider getting a better guitar!

Great little amp

By Michael

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a small amp, very dynamic, and very high quality considering the price. If you are looking for something that will work well for a practice situation as well as in a small club, this is the ticket. It might be a little less than what you want for a lead tone (depending) but from clean to grit, this really shines. Wide tonal possibilities and wonderful character. Plus its gorgeous.

Killer

By John Shoemaker

from Springdale, AE

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Best bang for the buck PERIOD. I was looking for a low wattage amp with killer tonal range for practicing and studion use. This is THE MACHINE! I get great tones when playing. Plays well when miking straight into the board. Needs reverb, but outboard pedals producethe desired results. I know others are disappointed when comparing to amps that cost 9-10x the Tweaker... I own a Boogie MKIIc and a couple of Marshall 100W heads. Howeve for my needs, this thing kills where my high-end amps cannot. To get comparable tones from my boogie, I need to crank it past the point where anyone in the house can tolerate and I have to worry about getting sued for sterilizing livestock in the surrounding 4 counties. The Tweaker exceeds my expectations for recording, small gigs, and practice applications.

AWESOME!!!

By Peter

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is easily one of the best on the market today. I bought it on Black Friday and haven't looked back. I originally tried it with a Strat off the shelf and thought it was the worst amp on the market. The i brought in my own and gave it a second chance. It was one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard. The Brit/AC/USA switch works wonders, allowing you to get an amazing number of tones with the help of the hot/clean switch and the Deep/tight and Bright/Normal switches. if you let the tubes warm up for 15 minutes you will be in heaven. The cleans on this amp are crystal clear and you can even go into some metal territory. The only setback for this amp is its lack of on-board reverb. But from what i hear egnater's reverb isn't all that good anyway. I would give this amp 6 stars rergardless of its lack of reverb.

Not what I thought, but still good

By Mark Giacalone

from Rnacho Palos Verdes, CA

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

For some reason I thought I'd be able to get a Marshall sound, a VOX sound, and Fender sounds all in this one amp. Well no such luck. I must say the clean setting with gain most of the way up is awesome. The effects loop is of course very nice for delay and modulation pedals. The tight switch is very cool, as is the bright switch. So for all of that, the amp is great. When set to "Hot", there are not as many workable choices as I had hoped for. Still, I did find a few nice ones. I currently use the Modern and USA settings with my Gibson Les Paul. Dialing the EQ just right yields a very full classic rock sound. The tight and bright switches work well with that setting. In conclusion, there are some nice sounds to be had. But, do not think you can get classic Marshall and VOX out of this. Maybe somewhat close after tweaking, but no guarantee.

What a great little amp!

By CURTIS SISK

from Fresno Ca.

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Ill start by saying I'm no "tone" expert but do know what I like to hear. I have Marshall's, an old Fender Deluxe and a variety of modern and older amps. Each has it's own sound and I would expect the Egnater to have it's own sound as well and it does. Good enough sound that I would buy it just for it's own unique sound. It does a descent job of imitating Marshall like sounds as well as Fender like sounds. Close enough for every day playing, gigging or whatever you want to do. If you want true Fender tone get a Fender. If you want true Marshall tone, get a Marshall. If you want a great amp that gives you the flexibility of getting close to both then goes on to make it?s own great sounds then get the Egnater. With the 5 different mini toggle switches, gain and eq knobs you can tons of different sounds that are great quiet or loud. I think this amp takes pedals well and have had no problems in that department. I would buy another tomorrow!

One of if not the BEST AMO Money can Buy!!!

By Steve Giordano

from Rochester.NY

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was a little skeptical at first havido it better than any other amp out there. having lived off fenders Blues Jr's and Blackstar's HT5R and a Bugera v22 but this amp is a dream come true. It has by far the BEST sound of any amp in or near it's class and outplays them all. My only note of advise is give the tubes a few minutes to warm up first and the WOW! What a game changer. There isn't anything this amp can do and do it BETTER than any other amp out there. By far the best purchase of an amp I have ever made. I have a VOX AC15 C2 and that is in a class by itself and it isn't fair to compare that amp with this but for a second amp this baby takes the cake. If anything happened to it I would buy another in a heartbeat. I really LOVE this amp and the sounds it gives are beyond Sensational and it can give you just about any sound you want. If your looking at getting you first tube amp or you want to upgrade because your sick of a screeching Blues JR then BUY THIS AMP!! It will be the best purchase you ever made and I can promise you you won't be sorry. IMO there isn't a better amp anywhere near this price range and you'll be absolutely delighted with the amazing VERSATILITY of this Fantastic Amp. BEST ON THE MARKET for the money BAR NONE!!!!

This amp laughs in the face of other amps!

By Calen

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Being a teenager, I had to save for months to buy this thing. Every trip to Guitar Center on the weekends gave me the desire to save my money like a fiend! Definitely worth it 100%, not overpriced at all! If anything it's underpriced for it's quality! The day I bought it I went straight from Guitar Center to band practice, and right out of the box it was great! I've received many compliments on it's sound, and it's looks! It went through about a week of breakin' in, but it's golden from there on out! Very easy to find a usable tone with a little "Tweaking,". The "Clean - Hot" gain toggle switch takes it from a funky, clean chording tone to an AC/DC sound on the "Clean" and the "Hot" mode has plenty of gain for anything but heavy metal. The "Deep" and "Tight" are great for a deep low end, or a tighter sound if you've got the gain maxed. The bright sound helps your Les Paul's humbuggies sound more like a strat like tone. The "Brit", "AC" and "USA" are breally nice touches, if not the star of the show on the panel. Basically, Marshall, Vox, or Fender, you already know this. The master's got a "Modern", "Vintage" switch blah blah blah... Seriously though, it's a nice amp! It's got an effects loop, and can power a cabinet, although the whole back panel is upside down, a small annoyance, but still a good thing to at least have; most amps this price range don't even have an effects loop! Definitely worth it!

This Amp Rocks!

By VERNON PAYNE

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had this amp for 6 months now. I use it with my LP with humbuckers, my LP with P-90s and my MIA Fender Strat. With each guitar I can get the tone I am looking for and more. It takes pedals as good as any amp. Put a bit of overdrive on the input signal (not the effects loop) and it sounds amazing! Plenty of volume for practice and using with a band unless you are playing huge venues. Best value for the money. I have several other amps and many years of experience, use this amp all the time.

An incredible amp and a great deal!

By Sam Krueger

from Berkeley, CA

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I think the other reviews do a pretty good job. I wasn't happy with the sounds I was getting from my old Laney and the Blues Jr. I had. The gold standard for me became my friends Fender Supersonic: every time I went over I was just blown away: it had great clean tones and a great gain channel. So I started looking for options, playing as many amps as I could, with the supersonic always in the background. The thing is, I just play by myself in my garage studio, and I often need the volume fairly low. But I wanted a great amp that could play good cleans, middle rocky crunch (think Stones Brown Sugar or something like that) and hit some Van Halen tones. Well, I found it! I can't say enough about how good this thing sounds, from clean to rockin' tones. I put it side to side with my friend's Supersonic yesterday and it held its own at every tone setting. Sure the Supersonic is bigger, but this thing sounded just as good. And often, thanks to the tweaking functions, even better. The adjustments are a great "palette" to have: just start tweaking until your ear hears the sound your looking for. The Fender/Marshall/Vox settings really work, bright and tight do their thing, and so on. For the price, this thing is ridiculous. Compared to a Fender Blues Jr., it's 10x the amp. The only down side is no reverb, which kind of sucks. I have to think it was a cost decision in order to put all of the other great features in and keep it at the $599 price point, but that's just a guess on my part. Quality and feel seem great, but I haven't had it a long time.

Excellent

By Christopher Hooper

from Tempe, AZ

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had this amp for almost two years and I've been extremely satisfied with it. I've received enough complements about it from other musicians that I felt I should share their positive response here as well. I play an '01 MIA Strat and a mid-90s era PRS CE-24 and this amp is able to accommodate the mid-range tones offered by both guitars as well as crunchy-distortion even for the stock single coils on my Fender. The humbuckers on PRS are a dream to play with this Egnater. The amp's voicings allow me to dial in cleaner USA and BRIT voicings as well as a more punchy AC voicing. 40 watts is enough volume to play for most small to medium sized clubs and venues and after that, you're probably plugging into the PA anyway. I play BOSS EQ and DD-5 and BOSS Super Chorus (no distortion because I love the gain sound from this amp) through the effects loop w/ (nearly, almost) zero hiss. It does not come with reverb, which for some, is a negative. Usually I run my delay through the loop, though for some short gigs, I've also played straight from the amp with no problems (and zero hiss). This amp is one the best values available and very versatile. I can play clean tones, jazz, heavy rock and blues. Some users may not be satisfied with the switches and voicings available, so play one before you buy. It looks beautiful (I wish it came with a cover, but I'm getting one for it anyway). I should add that I had to deal with repairs, which Egnater gladly performed under warranty (I did purchase my model blemished, but still covered). My first tube amp, I don't see how I could ever give it up.

A fabulous amp

By Jerrell

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I recently decided to 'Joe Bonamassa' my rig - tone stacking with multiple amps. I used a Fender Super Champ X2 as one side and then began my research for the Marshall-type side. After several weeks of blood-shot eyes from reading specs and blog threads, as well as fatigued eardrums from listening to about 100 different low wattage amps, I decided to pull the trigger on the Egnater Tweaker combo. From the instant I plugged this thing in and started poking around, I was in love! I could not find a single bad tone no matter what I did. I even liked the Vox-style sounds although I am not a big fan of the Vox amp itself. The tone section is extremely reactive and the amp's response is touch sensitive no matter how clean or gritty you have it set. Contrary to what you might read on some of the blogs/reviews, the Tweaker reacts very well with pedals inline. I have tried multiple delay, compressor, and overdrive pedals and am ecstatic with the results (especially using a Fulltone OCD, which you GOTTA get)! I highly recommend this amp to anyone who is looking for a great sound. Unless you are playing death metal (heck it will probably even do that), this amp can do it at a stage and neighbor friendly volume. The 'brown' sound out of this amp is killer!

Comments about Egnater Tweaker 112 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Last year I bought a Fender Bassbreaker 15 combo and have since been looking for a compliment amp that was just as great sounding but different. Since then I've played Valveking MH and 50W combo, Marshall 40Dsl, H&K Tubemeister 18 MH, a Hot Rod Deluxe, the Classic 20 MH and the Peavey 6505 MH... I'm keeping the Tweaker 15 Combo. Superior cleans (really nice) and different gainy stuff that's also really good but different that the EL84s in the Fender. Very quiet, nice loop and takes pedals reasonably well - didn't like my Wazcraft Blues Driver but loves everything else, not sure what gives there. The Tweaker is nicely reactive and cleans up nicely with my guitar's volume knob. By the way, the 6505 was my next favorite and I'll be picking one up with the matching 2x12 Peavey cab as soon as I save up the extra dough. One thing I have learned is that tone is totally subjective, lol. You've just got to play all of them! Thanks Guitar Center for your patience and excellent customer service.
