Extremely Impressed

from Central NJ

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

This cabinet is fuller and smoother than my '77 Marshall slant 4x12 with original greenbacks. I was shocked. Greenbacks have been my reference speakers for the past 20 years, and very few speakers have sounded better to me. Also, I usually hate high wattage speakers. How Egnater made a 2x12 sound fuller than my 4x12 is a mystery to me. How they made 80W speakers sound better than 25W speakers is another mystery. I couldn't be happier with the sound of this cabinet. My only small complaint is that it is pretty heavy for it's size. I'd imagine a lighter cabinet would chance the sound, so it is what it is.

incredible for the cash

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

So i bought the tour master 4x12 first, and it sounded amazing, i play a moded peavey 5150, I had been playing it through a cheap crate, i actually liked the crate tone, the cheaper speakers give you more of a early 90's punk tone, i play p90s for the most part, when i switched to the egnater 4x12 the clarity differance was amazing, only prob with that cab was it was very very heavy, it weighs 100 lbs, the moded 5150 weights about 70 with a the fan installed, so it like a 200 pound guitar rig, loading up stairs and on stages was tough to say the least, i sent it back and got the 2x12, its alittle differant tone, but i really like the 2x12 better, the Elite 80's are great and i've never owned a cab that felt this solid, rugged. is the only way to describe it, i'm really pleased this cab sounds like an orange for alot less

Nice 212 cab but I wanted a regular size 212 cab with vintage 30s

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I have been a musician for over 20 years. I just wanted to say the 212 Egnater is a good sounding cabinet, yet I believe, it could have been so much better than it is. The reason many musicians buy 212 cabinets is because they are lighter and they may want to down size their equipment, and it would be so much easier to hall from gig to gig, had it been a lighter cabinet. Not only is the 212 egnater heavier than the average cabinet, but it's also much deeper and wider than many other 212 cabinets which makes it a pain in the butt to carry, but like I said, it has a good sound. Also, I have a question, Why would Egnater choose not to place the two vintage 30s in the 212 cabinet like the 412 has? ( JUST CURIOUS.) The Egnater is made out of birch which is good. If the 212 Egnater was a smaller cabinet size with the two vintage 30s in it, I would have kept the cabinet. Instead, I returned the Egnater cabinet for a Classic 30 Peavey combo amp for it's convience. I would like to find a nice 212 cabinet with vintage 30s thats not too heavy and not as bulky. To me that would be the ultimate cabinet, and the cab would have to be built with good wood, not particle board. Preferabley made of birch or ply. Thanks

Rich and resonant tone

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I use this with my high-gain Marshall JVM 410 head; when I can, I use two Tourmaster cabs as a stack, and they certainly have the presence of twice as many speakers in a much smaller space. Each cab is heavier and larger than your average 2x12, but the sound is big, clear, and resonant. The speakers themselves are clean and warm, and you're getting an actually birch ply cab for 1/2 the price of what Marshall charges. Real wood cabs do have much better resonance than the standard MDF cabinets, and are much more resilient. A birch ply cab will actually survive being dropped on the corner, where an MDF might just break your heart. I've had it happen. The Tourmaster really does sound as full and rich as a 4x12, and the open-back option really helps tune the rig to the space. An excellent value.

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

Used in home studio with Egnater Rebel 30, Tweaker, and Marshall amp heads. This cab sounds great and is very well made. I like the option of removing the back panel to open it up a bit. Some may not enjoy the Wright of this beast, but It's still way easier than a 4X12!

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I've been playing through this cab for about three years now. The celestions in the cab are amazing. I play through an Vox ac100 combined with my gibson 15' special pro. The clean is so crystal that you won't believe it's your guitar. The distortion is tight, bright, and made to excite. I'm going to grab another cab and complete the set of four one day.

The perfect Cab for my Blackstar ID:60

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I was looking for cabs for my Blackstar combo. I didn't like the Blackstar cabs. They sounded the same as the 1 x12, just louder. I had a Rebel 112x for my Vox so I had an idea what the Classic 80's sounded like. But they really wake up with this Cab. I bought it and went straight to rehearsal. Lot's of compliments from the other musicians who said it sounded like I found my sound. I think I finally have. The bass is just right and tight. Low mids are perfect. And my leads came through, warm and clear on the highs. I play hard rock and this rig was ready to go tour. I can't wait for my next gig. This cab sounds like a 4 x 12

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I play a Renegade head with various non-Egnater cabinets but have never quite got the tone I was looking for. So I finally decided to bite the bullet and pair the Renegade head with this Tourmaster 212 cab and was (almost literally) blown over by the awesome tone. It is so much more than I expected. The Celestion Elite 80 speakers have great tone with lots of head room and - at least to my ears - nice breakup and distortion when the need arises. The cabinet itself is built and finished extremely well, has great features like heavy duty slide-on casters (not the pop-in kind), removable back panel, switchless mono/stereo jacks, metal jackplate, and metal corners. Compared to other "high end" cabinets this one is truly a bargain. I have no complaints.
