I traded my marshall jcm2000 tsl 602 combo for an egnater rebel 30. All I can say is that it was well worth the trade. I've been playing for 20 years, currently playing a modded hwy1 tele w/ dimarzio chopper t and area t pups. I play motown, funk, classic rock, blues, metal, and some jazz. This is the amp for me, this is the tone that I've been chasing for 12 years or so.... The Rebel 30 is so versatile - it gives me the best of three worlds - VOX, Fender, and Marshall tones by virtue of having EL 84 and 6v6 power tubes and 4 12ax7 pre amp tubes. However it's TONE blows the above amp makers out of the water. It is very musical and responsive. It is small and portable but very capable of getting LOUD!!! This beats having a two (or more) amp setup with a/b boxes. This thing is an engineering marvel!!! I've gotten tones ranging from fat yet brilliant jazz/motown clean tones, accoustic-like compressed clean tones, Ritchie Kotzen's clean and OD tones (i.e. motherhead's family reunion), classic rock crunch (Free, Zepellin, Boston), high gain metal distortion (if the wattage is set low and gain set high on OD channel), Linconln Brewster's OD tone, Blues Saraceno's fat and tight lead tone, Hendrix's clean and fuzz tones (tube mix set more towards 6v6), and I can go on all day.... = ) Best of all, it's very responsive to my tele's volume pot. i can control the amount of gain in the od channel using my guitar's volume pot - especially when using the neck pickup. This amp is well worth the money. After 12 years of searching, I have finally found the perfect amp - great tone, versatile, portable, and built like a tank. Bruce Egnater - you are a good man. Thanks for this amp. I'm happy to be part of your family - your family rocks!!!

First off, I will say I loved the sound of the gain channel. I liked the clean channel, however if you crawl the web you will find those who speak of a persistent hiss. And it's there, on all of them. Even with the volume on both your guitar and the amp turned down. It's evidently that way be design. For those who say it's just tube amps, I have a Mesa Express and a Carvin X100 that don't do this. I think this wouldn't have been an issue if there had been variable gain on both channels, and the response I got when I inquired about this seems to confirm it. It sounds like if you turn the gain all the way up and the master low on the gain channel. Not earth shattering, but if you are playing quiet it's annoying. I really wanted to like this amp. But I went through 3 of them in a little over a month, and it wasn't just bad tubes except for the first one. With the second two, I swapped out both preamp and power tubes with no resolution. So at that stage I was looking at either swapping it out or service. However there is no service center here in town so you are down to shipping it out. So before you take the plunge you may want to check on service availability. Aside from that, there are other issues. Two of the ones I had rattled uncontrollably after a while and I had to go through adjusting things like the amp handles and the preamp tube covers to quiet it down. In addition, if you use the direct out, all the models made until recently evidently have a resistor missing that will cause it to stop working after a certain point. So again, check for availability of a service tech. Or make sure there is an exchange policy so if it goes belly up in a week you can swap it. I don't often recommend purchase/performance plans, but if you are buying this amp I would go for this to be on the safe side. Support-wise, I guess they are OK - not exemplary like some of the kudos suggest. My experience is that if it isn't something they can fix by sending you some tubes then you should adjust your expectations accordingly. In terms of actual service rendered I'm not sure the results were always there. But they WERE nice enough and they did appear to try at least fifty percent of the time. So if effort counts more than results I guess you could give them a pass. They are probably better than Line 6. All in all, a marginal thumbs down on this amp from me. Again, not on overall sound (because I loved that, even the hissy clean channel), but I'm not convinced that in terms of quality/QA they are any better than buying a Behringer. I swapped it for a Mesa Express 5/25 and no regrets. It's more expensive and a little harder to dial in my sound, but it is a better constructed and more tonally flexible amp so in the end it was worth it.

Great Amp, Great Tone - Terriffic!

By Rob C.

from Hamburg, NJ

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

The Egnater Rebel 30 1x12 combo is a feature packed little amp. I ordered mine from GC online. They were offer a super discount so I figured I'd take one for the team and boy I'm glad I did. The amp is 30 watts, 2 channels, effects loop, built-in reverb (independent adjustment for each channel) Vol, Treb, Bas, Tight & Brite switch on Channel 1 (I wish Channel 1 had a Mid), Treb, Vol, Bas, Mid, Grain, Tight & Brite on Channel 2, 1 watt to 30 watt knob for each channel, XLR out with Silent Mode Switch (All Amps should have this feature), foot switch, cover, made in China. The amp is terrific. The clean channel is crystal clear. Iۡve played it with humbuckers, coil tap, single coil and even an acoustic. Very very nice. The dirty channel has more gain than most of us will need. This will easily play heavy crunch to 80ۡs metal without any problems. The effects loop is great. I run a Digitech RP1000 though the loop with a switch set to bypass the internal RP1000ۡs ampۡs. Itۡs like having a third channel. Together with the RP1000ۡs this is a great package. The Amp is silent on the clean channel and just a slight buzz on the dirty. The reverb is easily trimable by can get overdone in a hurry. The tube mix feature is nice but it is very subtle. Also this am only puts out 30 watts if the tube mix knob is at 12 noon, otherwise itۡs only 20 watts. Donۡt get me wrong this amp is loud if you want it to be. The amp can be adjusted from 1 watt to 30 watts. In using this feature it really designates the headroom each channel has rather then directly effecting the volume. On channel 2 you can use 1 watt and get the tube to load a little sooner so ۡ̏ bedroom metalۡݕ_ can be obtained. The best feature of the amp is the XLR out with the Silent play button. I run this into an Alesis USB mixer and it allows me to turning off the internal speaker and really crank the Amp to great a solid distorted tone on Channel 2 while maintaining an output level that keeps my neighbors from calling the cops. The XLR also works when the amp is in play mode, perfect for larger venues. Overall I love the tone and flexibility of this amp. I canۡt wait to get an extension cabinet for it. Well done Bruce, well done!

Very Impressive Amp!

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

I had been looking for a small combo/club amp for gigging where space was tight and I couldn't bring my bigger amp rig. Went to the NY Amp Show in May to see what was new and of ALL the things at the show, the Egnater Rebel 30 1 x 12 was a standout! Great full tone. Not "boxy" as other similarly powered smaller amps are. Cleans are very good with good touch sensitivity. Tends to break up a bit when you dig in hard, but otherwise ample headroom. The overdrive and full on distortion are amazing for an amp this size. Rich harmonic character and great feel. I couldn't pull myself away from playing the amp. This amp has plenty of horse power! The independent reverb functions nicely, though digital. Sounded amazing with extension cabs. At one point I had 3 additional 1 x 12s hooked up for a great "mini" wall of sound. Amazing that Egnater found a way to engineer the chassis to fit everything inside a cabinet the same dimensions as the 1 x 12 ext. Highly recommended!

Amazing!

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

Okay, I am an assistant manager at the Guitar Center in Lexington KY, and all I can say is AMAZING. The versatility of this amp is outrageous. I am a huge fan of Egnater products. I myself own a Tourmaster 2x12 and a Rebel 20. I love the size of the Rebel and the versatility of the tourmaster. With the rebel 30, you get the best of both worlds. What other combo amp of this size has a blend knob to switch from EL84's and 6V6's? The reverb on both channels is a fantastic idea as well. Great amp. I would recomend it to anyone. Even if your playing slightly larger places, you can put an SM57 on it and just mic it. I will definately be picking one of these up soon!

Simply outstanding!

By DDR

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

This is an outstanding amp! I have a Mesa Boogie Road King II deal and a *very* heavy 2x12 cabinet that I use for gigs, but I was looking for something smaller that would sound "full" and have great tube distortion and solid low end, but be in a portable package that wouldn't require 2 trips to lug around. I compared to many amps (Boogie Express series, even the pricey Boogie Mark V and Orange), but this had the most gain, compression *and* a great clean sound. Now I can go from car to practice in 1 trip instead of 3! The true testament for this amp is that I stayed up late playing it for 4 hours after I got home from Guitar Center last night! If you're looking for a *great* overall amp, including one that really has serious gain, but that can clean up, I *highly* recommend it!

Be Careful!

By Jeff

from Nashville, TN

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

On the advice of a trusted friend I purchased this amp sight unseen - a first for me. The first thing I noticed, of course, was the amazing tone. It really is a beautiful thing. Plus the flexibility, such as separate clean and drive channels, power adjust on each channel, bright and tight filters, etc. Just a wonderful sounding and well thought out amp. Here's the bad part. I had to go through 6 amps before I found one that was not defective in some way. That's right - SIX! I won't go through all the various problems but most were quality control issues. Also, sadly Egnater was not responsive on any emails I sent concerning the problems. Bottom line - If you're willing to work at it and find one that works properly, the tone just can't be beat. I surely wouldn't have gone through a month long search if not for that little fact. By the way - Guitar Center was fantastic. They did everything in their power to help me out. Egnater, not so much.

Egnater Rebel-30 was well worth the wait!!!

By John McKown

from Westerville, Oh

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

This amp, was the first amp, that I have ever purchased in 35 years that I didn't play through it first. The whole idea of having those particular tube configs was proof that somebody was listening to us as guitarists and was irresistible to my wallet. The Rebel 30 112 oozes that rich hot glass tone @ an affordable price. Tube mix, separate reverb pots, watts control, bright & tight, sturdy foot controller, bright L.E.D.'s, padded embroidered cover.... my head is reeling high serotonin levels. I forgot silent record out. It's too much but I love it. Oh, my 87 year old Mom surprised me with the extension cab for my B-Day!!! Bruce Egnator and Co. is a class act and am proud to be a part of their family.

How many amps is this?

By Justin

from Austin, TX

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

First and foremost, this amp truly sounds wonderful. Both channels are capable of a variety of tones, in fact the hardest part is settling for just one. I will admit that its diminutive size was a little bit of a concern because 1) it's not as cool as a huge amp behind you and 2) I really didn't think the bass response would be there. I was completely wrong. This amp is loud, portable and full of tone. Plus, it's has a really nice sounding reverb. The wattage knobs are great to dial in the right amount of squash, but it's loud no matter where you put it. The tube mix works better at higher volumes, but does change the tone slightly. As far as hissing concerns, mine is really quiet. The only time it hisses is when my strat is really close to it - under two feet. Other than that, it's pretty quiet. The cleans are unbelievable for blues to country. The dirt is perfect between 1 to 3 o'clock and it cleans up nicely when you roll of the volume. This amp really sounds great: terrific cleans and crushing crunch. It truly inspires you to play more. In the quest for truly good tone, this amp is the perfect tool.

TONE, TONE, TONE, AND MORE TONE!!!!!

By Ian L

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Egnater Rebel-30 112 1x12 30W Tube Combo Guitar Amp:

Nothing in this price range can touch this amp. Im a strat guy and I love fenders clean sound and Marshalls crunch. This amp gives you both and more. Turn the watt control anywhere you want 1 to 30 even at low volumes you can get amazing tube saturation. Then blend the EL84's with the 6V6's for even more tone settings. To get tone this good you have to crank your old amp to deafing levels. This amp is amazing. Two big thumbs up to the Egnater folks for designing this amp, this thing was made for me. Go to guitar center and try this amp you will not be sorry. I may even buy a second one and trade in my other amps.
