  Most notably a feature that captured my attention is the footswitch. It allows you to change channels from 1 to 2 (of course), but it also has a switch that turns on or off the effects loop route. So, I can put my delay or reverb pedal on the amp in the loop and turn it on or off from the footswitch from 20 feet away. The switches aren't just gimmicky. Each switch adds a unique change in the tone. The EQ is shared but I feel they are more used to shape the overall output, not each channel. The two channels are actually exactly the same circuitry path. So, you could have clean/clean, clean/heavy, heavy/clean or anything in between. If you wanted you could make channel one dirty and channel 2 dirtier and just use it like a 'boost'. If you want a "fender" sound and a "marshall" sound, you can bounce between them. You're not 'stuck' with either clean or dirty on either channel. Very cool! For a solid tube amp, there are so many eye-opening features which are sweet for a guy like me who is always desiring different sounds. The build construction is sturdy. The head is heavy in a good way, but not awkward. Feels solid. Looks beautiful, with that "orange amps" looking weaved baffle. The power tubes are "ruby tubes" 6L6GC with Egnater painted on them. I don't know what the AX7s are because they are covered in shields and I haven't opened the amp yet. I think they sound fine. They are quiet, no humming, noticeable microphonics or cracking/thumping. The knobs feel firm unlike other budget tube amps I've owned. The various tweaker switches feel firm. Looking into the amp, it's built solid with a simple layout. I'm very satisfied with the quality/build. For whatever reason, I had been shying away from Egnater, just glossing over it as I read reviews and looked at products. I just didn't identify with the branding and couldn't decide how I felt about it. Yet, so many forums have people raving about the Tweaker. So, I went to the store and I plugged into the Tweaker 40 and realized what all the fuss was about. It's is really impressive for the price. I've owned a VOX AC15CC1, Blues Jr. III, Jet City 2112RC, VOX AC4, ValveKing, and Peavey Classic 50, and the Tweaker is my all-time favorite for one main reason. All the amps above, I can dial in very similar 'feel' and tone with the Tweaker 40. It's as if I have all those amp's characteristics at my fingertips! If you haven't played a Tweaker, do yourself a favor, take the time, drive as far as you have to, and play this amp. Bring your money. You just might need it!

• Tweaker 40 Rocks!

  This thing is exactly what I have been waiting for. Nice tones, flexible, 2 channel, big amp sound with a small footprint. No need to break your back hauling a 4x12 cab to jam. Just used it for a jam session and the 1x12 worked perfectly, rhythm or solos and my lead tone cut through everything!

• Great versitile ampe

  I've had this head for over 6 months. I absolutely love it. The cleans are fantastic, and it takes pedals very well. the "tweaker" switches absolutely make a difference in the tone. I find the "hot" switch to be a little weak. It's an ok over drive, but becomes much better when pushed with a tube screamer. No metal here, but a good heavy rock. That being said, I have it set up for cleans with the Les Paul on one channel, and cleans on the strat with the other channel for the most part. I also use a line 6 M5 with this, mainly in the tube driven effects loop, for reverb or delay. BUT the heavy line 6 distortions sound fantastic through this amp, when face melting is called for. Now the bad. The Ruby tubes in this amp suck. Hands down, worthless. I did not know how bad until i replaced the power tubes with JJ's. This amp came alive. the bass response is much better, and the sounder is fuller over all. Just to note, i play this on a 1x12 Mesa open back cab. Sounds fantastic. Finally, the Egnater customer service sucks worse than the Ruby tubes. When i bought the amp, there was a power tube that was extremely noisy. it took over 3 months, emails, then finally complaints on their FB page to get a response. The warranty on the tubes is 3 months...... To be fair, once i got in touch with the tech, he was a great help. he helped me isolate the issue and was supposed to have tubes sent out. over 6 months later, still no tubes. I ended up just buying my own JJ tubes. Glad i did, as this made the amp sound so much better overall. To sum it up, this is a great solid amp. You can dial in a ton of sounds, it's loud enough for most applications, takes pedals like a beast, and sounds fantastic. Make sure you switch out the tubes, and pray you don't have to deal with customer service. I highly recommend this head.
