  Bought this a couple months ago. Actually traded a Mesa Triple rectifier for it. In my opinion the Renegade is the way to go if your looking at Egnater. I bought it with the matching 2x12 and returned it for the Egnater 4x12 with vintage 30's which better suit's this amp verses the elite 80's. It can do it all. I play many styles and like a variety of amp tones. Its also really responsive to your guitar and pickups. I play 6 string les pauls and strats through it and one of my guitar players uses a 7 string custom Carvin through it for jazz and prog metal and the tone is incredable. You dont need any more than 2 channels on this amp. The clean does lack a little headroom compared to the dirty at high volumes so I keep the boost on that channel but thats not an issue. I like the effects loop. Do wish it had a spring instead of digital reverb. Sounds ok but I just prefer the spring. A good buy for the cash most def.. And it sounds good at lower volumes as well . Pushes a 4x12 perfectly but still easily matches up to a smaller cab. You can literally do small bar gigs doing blues,rock,jazz,funk,country etc. and then go do a metal show the next night with the same amp.

• Very versatile with plenty of headroom

  I also own an Egnater Rebel 20, and I purchased this amp to allow for channel switching mid-song during gigs. I could have gotten the Rebel 30 for that function, but I figured I'd go with the slight voicing difference this offers. I play pop-punk, indie and general rock mostly and this amp does all of them easily. There's also has enough reverb on tap to do surf. It can do anything from nearly solid state like cleans to metal distortion. (although you might want a bit of a pedal boost for modern high gain metal) My main guitar is a Jaguar HH with P-rails, and this amp lets each pickup style shine through. This amp is very well voiced and starting with all the knobs vertical on both channels and then balancing to taste is a great place to start. Also, the boost (Main 1 vs. Main 2) setup is nice because it is independent of the EQ settings. Unlike most amps where the boost simply defeats the EQ setting and puts everything on 10, this keeps your tone and simply makes it louder. Great for any style - try one out today.

  I've had my Renegade for almost 2 years now. It sounds FANTASTIC, once you play with the knobs enough to tweak your sound, and looks really nice as well. Very versatile, but at the same time, you can really dial in your own signature tone. I liked mine so much that I ended up purchasing another a few months ago to run along with my original Renegade. Most of my cabinets had Vintage 30's or G12 Heritage speakers, and it didn't really suit me. The Renegade is a bright head, and the V30's made it sound harsh and I got a LOT of beaming. I had to have my highs and presence down at like 9 o'clock. I ended up picking up a couple of the Tourmaster 212x cabs with the Celestion/Egnater Elite 80's and that made a world of difference. The Elite 80's really enhance the bottom end, but still have clarity, so I was able to again boost up my highs and get the sounds I was after. I've also replaced one of my V30 cabs with a Eminence Cannabis Rex/Red White Blues speaker combo and it sounds GREAT! Those speakers are only $75 a piece, and really make the Renegade sound phenomenal. All in all, a great piece: props to Bruce Egnater!
