Wow!!!

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I don't know how these amps sell for so cheap (no, I don't work for GC). This 50 watt head is better than many boutique and more expensive amps I've had (and still have, but will sell soon). The 3 channels are great. There is a volume drop between channel 1 & 2 that is a bummer, but you can work around it. It has the great Fender cleans on channel 1, awesome crunch rhythm tones (and rock and blues lead tones) on channel 2 and blazing distortion on channel 3. Great effects loop too. An all around great amp that can be used for blues, classic rock, hard rock and metal. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 out of 5 is the volume drop issue, but that is no biggie.

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

It's an EVH. I own 2 wolfgang guitars and this amp. Channel one is crisp and clean. Channel 2 is all eddie tone. Warm but with bite and not over the top. Channel 3 is very over the top. Almost far too much gain but fun to rip on. Mostly stay on channel two it's more than enough. But 3 is another animal... best used with a gate. I'm running g it through a 212 orange cab with vintage 30's. Nice and warm for this setup with some g12's would add nice bite to the mix in treble. Good solid amp no doubt.. had recto's orange even the tiny terror. Peavey 5150 combo and now this. Prefer this over all. It's louder than expected and pretty heavy but seriously stop looking at reviews. yours is waiting for you so click buy it now and stop searching. The search is over. Period.

    Impressed!

    By adam horn

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have to say first off that I am really impressed with the build quality of this amp. I own a lot of amps from various manufactures and never have I been soo impressed upon opening the box. You can just tell the craftsmanship that went into this amp, in my opinion it even surpasses Mesa/Boogie. I first saw this amp at Namm and heard several people playing through it and was impressed buy the tone. When I got mine home and switched it on I was not disappointed it really sounds great, the blue channel has a lot of soul and warmth to it. I am more of a high gain player but I am just in love with the blue channel even though it is one of the lower gain channels. The red channel is as much high gain as anyone could ever want, and very low on the hiss that seems to plague high gain amps. I am not one who hands out compliments easily But this Amp has earned it!

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have this amp head in conjunction with the EVH 212 cabinet and let me tell you it does not dissapoint!. I just recently picked up a EVH red/white striped guitar to use in combination with this set up. No words!. If you want to get that classic EVH sound this is the way to go. The peeps at HC were LOCKED ON!. They were friendly, knowledgeable and went out of there way to answer my questions. I'll keep going back to the Scottsdale location because they were the best. That GC. I'll be back AGAIN!!.

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The EVH has excellent, crisp saturation & distortion that allows both chords AND lead to be articulate and well defined. Mere distortion pedals cannot achieve this; close, but not enough. No pedal can emulate the warmth and overdrive that this amp provides. AND the clean channel is also pretty good.

          Glad I bought it

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I've owned the EVH 5150III 50watt head for almost a year, and I keep liking it more and more! I am 44 years old and have been playing regularly since I was a teen, searching for the right tone and I?ve finally found it. The EVH is super responsive to my playing, and volume control. I primarily use Channel 2 (blue), and I can get full metal tones in the Eddie vein, then roll off into Stones territory, even cleaner classic rock tones if I want. I have owned great amps before (Marshall JCM800, Bogner Ecstacy, Soldano SLO100) and the EVH beats them all, for my sound anyway. I don't use channels 1 (clean) or 3 (heavy duty gain) much, but they sound very good when I've switched over. I do wish the channel switching was different though, and did channels 2 and 3 on the same circuit. I just didn't want to pay more for the 100w version that has three separate channels, and plus the 100w was way heavier. This is lightweight, looks great, and for tone (you know, the main thing), this amp is ultra versatile. Again, it's very responsive to my playing - whether I'm digging in with a pick, or lighter touches with fingerstyle, it delivers the tone that I have in my head. I'm very happy, and finally feel like my amp search is over after all these years.

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Wasn't sure about the amp at first The volume difference between channel 1&2 really does need to be redesigned and fixed. Almost sent it back until i retubed it with the custom preamp tubes kit you get from Doug's tubes and it just kicks now has better overall definition and is less noisy.

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I've always wanted either of the Peavey 5150 or the 6505 2X12 amps, due to the great tone. I was a bit worried when EVH went with Fender to build this amp, but now that I've heard it, I don't have that concern! It is a great sounding amp, with so much variability. I have the matched 2X12 cab, and at low volume it still sounds great - It works well for bedroom playing. This thing can also be seriously loud.....I can't imagine needing any more than half-gain/half-volume for playing live. Not as much crunch as the Peavey, but honestly, there is enough for almost anyone (unless you are playing death metal - in that case, maybe a pedal is in your future.....). The upside of the EVH over the Peavey is the clean tone: it sounds great!

I can't recommend this amp enough. Really the only downside to it is that the tone is a bit funky (thin and watery) through headphones. I can't complain too much though....at least it has a headphone out jack. Most 50 watt or greater tube amps do not have one. It makes night time practice easier on my family!!

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Traded my Mesa for it and won't look back. This amp has such a wide variety of ones you can get out of it. The middle channel is identical to a soldano HR50. The cleans are very much like some of Fenders famed amps, but just moving up on the gain a little bit you can get a very raw almost early Marshall grit. The foot switch buttons are durable. The only cons I would say is Channel one and two share the same gain and the on switch is in the back. If your're in the mood to break out your hair spray and 1980s mullet there is a MIDI direct in the back, just add phase 90.

Comments about EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

In the bang for the buck category you can do no better. Half the power as the 100w at half the price but still plenty loud! From the crystal clean tone of channel one to the full on scream of channel three this little pup has it all. Paired with the 1x12 cab the whole thing came in at about $1200 or so. Volume jump between channel 1 and 2 is easily handled by dropping a compression pedal in the effects chain and it controls the level, no problem. Add a bit of delay and you've got EVH tone nailed dead on.
