EVH 5150III 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head (H85603)
Availability:

Loaded with pure EVH sound and power.

The EVH 5150III 50-Watt Head is a scaled-down version of its acclaimed 100-watt big brother—the mighty 5150 III head—with many of the same great features. Its smaller size and portability make it a perfect amp for players who want arena volume, tone and performance in a compact package. It pairs perfectly with the new EVH 5150 III 2x12 and 1x12 cabs, in addition to the current EVH 5150 III 4x12 cabinet.

It’s a three-channel amp; channels one and two share EQ, with gain, low, mid, high and volume controls; channel three has gain, low, mid, high, volume and master presence and resonance controls. Other features include selectable impedance (4, 8 or 16 ohms), dual parallel speaker output jacks, effects loop, headphone jack, line out and black hardware. Included four-button footswitch has 1/4” input jack; also accommodates MIDI footswitching.

  • Wow!!!

As reviewed by Tim Johnson on 1/2/2013

I don't know how these amps sell for so cheap (no, I don't work for GC). This 50 watt head is better than many boutique and more expensive amps I've had (and still have, but will sell soon). The 3 channels are great. There is a volume drop between channel 1 & 2 that is a bummer, but you can work around it. It has the great Fender cleans on channel 1, awesome crunch rhythm tones (and rock and blues lead tones) on channel 2 and blazing distortion on channel 3. Great effects loop too. An all around great amp that can be used for blues, classic rock, hard rock and metal. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 out of 5 is the volume drop issue, but that is no biggie.

  • EVH 5150 III-50 Watt amp head IS a GREAT sounding amp!!!

As reviewed by Robert Cranston on 1/21/2013

I've had this amp for about 4 months now. I bought the matching EVH 1X12 speaker cabinet as well and I am very happy with them both. If you want Eddie's tone, this amp will give it to you. If you want to create your own original sound, this amp can do that too. We all know about these amps being high gain amps. Channels 2 & 3 are a metal heads wet dream. They give you that legendary overdriven high gain tone that EVH is known for, but my favorite channel is the clean channel. The EVH 5150 III is built by Fender and Fender amps are in a class all by themselves when it comes to clean tube amps and this is by far the most versatile channel. Fender tube amps accept pedals very, very well, so you can use your favorite pedals/board and it will sound incredible. If you want nice cleans, you get that too. If you want a great classic rock sound just add a little bit of gain and rock out. If you want to play some Blues, well you can do that too. It's all possible on the clean channel. This was a very pleasant surprise after I first purchased this amp. For some reason, I didn't think an EVH amp could be this versatile, but with some experimenting & time, I was able to dial in many a awesome sounds. STOKED !!! I bought the 1X12 cab because I am strictly a part time garage player. It sounds great and is more than enough for my needs. It looks awesome too. The 50 watt head is Loud too. I usually play no louder than on 2 or 3 just because I don't want to piss off my neighbors. Hahaa. It sounds great at bedroom levels too. I'll just use my boost pedal cranked to ten and turn the volume on the amp down a little and I get the sound that I'm looking for. In my opinion, this is a great and versatile amp. More so than many of the reviews that I have read about it. I know there are a lot of quality amps being built these days. Many at very affordable prices, but if you are looking for a high quality tube amp, the EVH 5150 III is worth every penny I paid for it. 5 stars!!! *****

  • Impressed!

As reviewed by adam horn on 7/1/2013

I have to say first off that I am really impressed with the build quality of this amp. I own a lot of amps from various manufactures and never have I been soo impressed upon opening the box. You can just tell the craftsmanship that went into this amp, in my opinion it even surpasses Mesa/Boogie. I first saw this amp at Namm and heard several people playing through it and was impressed buy the tone. When I got mine home and switched it on I was not disappointed it really sounds great, the blue channel has a lot of soul and warmth to it. I am more of a high gain player but I am just in love with the blue channel even though it is one of the lower gain channels. The red channel is as much high gain as anyone could ever want, and very low on the hiss that seems to plague high gain amps. I am not one who hands out compliments easily But this Amp has earned it!
