Not a Bad Bass...

By Bertaluchi

from Apopka, Florida

Comments about ESP LTD Viper 104 4-String Bass Guitar:

I have owned this bass in black for over 3 years now and dont get me wrong, when it comes to tone this bass sounds good but it is very very heavy and the neck has a "sticky" feel due to the heavy coat of gloss black paint on it. When playing this bass with a strap while standing, it does not balance well at all. It is very top heavy, meaning that the headstock and neck seem to pull down and I feel like Im always having to adjust my bass while playing. If you are concerned with the weight, (in my opinion it is much heavier than a standard fender J or P bass) keep on looking. The tuning stability is above average and overall the bass is good for tone but not that great for playability. I like the 2 band active e.q. and if this bass had a better weight and balance it would have been a real quality instrument. Next time I will think twice before buying a bass.

Killer bass!

By Doug Lathey

from Hamilton, OH

Comments about ESP LTD Viper 104 4-String Bass Guitar:

I was always interested in getting an ESP viper 414 bass with the set neck but once I picked up this bass I immediately loved it! The shape of the body along with the positions of the strap buttons gives me the right angle to play and lock in with my band since I play my basses low in the first place. I actually like the basswood body/maple neck combination that gives the bass a punchy yet clear tone compared to my LP bass with a mahogany body/neck. The only bad thing about the bass is only personal preference of pickup length. I highly recommend checking this bass out! Also, the new Gabe Crisp signature version of this bass looks killer too!
